Respect is one thing, reality is another. You view one as having a higher value (ie: respect) and I view the other of having a higher value (ie: reality).
It is not limited to what you wrote here but the advice offered in general. In my "real" life, I come across people (many young) who face bankruptcy daily. Do you know why? Because they never got a dose of reality. As their lawyer, they can have all the respect in the world for me, but it won't count for diddly without a dose of reality.
I (and others here) are giving reality, not fantasy. If I wasn't "respectful" enough, then I'd say that has more to do with being sensitve (on your end) rather than rude on mine.
