hopefully my final high end Wax question(s)

Picus said:
There is a difference between saying, "I disagree with you" and making a snide remark that implies the person you are disagreeing with is a fool. I am not even going to get into who has more experience here; when you want to disagree with someone on this forum just try to show them some respect.

Thanks.

Respect is one thing, reality is another. You view one as having a higher value (ie: respect) and I view the other of having a higher value (ie: reality).

It is not limited to what you wrote here but the advice offered in general. In my "real" life, I come across people (many young) who face bankruptcy daily. Do you know why? Because they never got a dose of reality. As their lawyer, they can have all the respect in the world for me, but it won't count for diddly without a dose of reality.

I (and others here) are giving reality, not fantasy. If I wasn't "respectful" enough, then I'd say that has more to do with being sensitve (on your end) rather than rude on mine.

I never told the OP to buy Vintage, I replied with my experience with it; which as far as I can tell outweighs your experience with it. That's reality.

Since you seem to know exactly what is and isn't in the detailing world I'd suggest you leave the site to us novices.

Hey Picus and SB, how does vintage make washing your car easier? Does it make dirt and debris rinse off easier? You still go over your car with a a wash mitt or sponge correct? The only reason I am asking, is that I have never noticed something not washing off my car fairly easy.

Well, we disagree. Imagine that. I've read just about every one of your posts, and they are all as disrespectful and tactless as your signature. You can see it how you want, but in the end you'll be judged by how *others* see you. Your choice. Continue to justify your statements however you want, but you still come across as a jerk. Sorry, the only way that's gonna change is for you to stop coming across as one.

So please feel free to post away. Just understand you're going to get dinged *every time* you come across as being a jerk. I'm betting you'll need to get used to it, becuase just from what I've seen of your personality, you are quick to assign fault to others without taking responsibility or apologizing for your actions; you could never be capable of making a statement that could be disrespectful or rude. It's just us over reacting. Mmmmkay. Grats on being the first person ever added to my ignore list.

That was all totally off topic, and I apologize.

So to answer the question about how Vintage lessens the car washing load... As Picus mentioned, Vintage is *extremely* easy to clean. And most of the time, I clean it without ever touching the paint. I've done a bunch of threads on this (that have pictures), so I'm not gonna rehash old stuff. I've tried many, many, many LSP's. None of them are able to come clean using a completely touchless method like Vintage.

Interesting stuff. How often do you re-apply Vintage or after how many washes do you notice the ease of cleaning diminish?

Look at the Bee! He's not just the resident plastic melting steamer using freak! Hahaha. I'll trade you some of those Federal Hydroshocks for 4oz of Vintage. Hahaha.

I don't know about SB, but at first I was applying Vintage a lot, like every 2 weeks. The last time I applied it was about a month ago and it's holding up well so far. 3-4 washes in now.

Shine, I'm probably not the best example to use for how often to reapply Vintage. I reapply it just because. I also wash my car more than most people shower. ;) But, to actually *answer* your question, :) I reapply Vintage at least every two weeks.

That's true! I'm up to melting much more important things now! (Don't ask.) :o And oh yeah, I have Hyrdroshocks in everything *except* my PPK/S, and that's just because I prefer the Eagle Talons in that one. :D

1. I never called anybody here by any names, you did.

2. I never engaged in anything with you, you started with me, that makes you an instigator.

3. I never commented on any of your posts, you commented on mine.

4. Have I got "dinged'? If so, what has been the effect? Please, keep dinging away.

Back to the original poster...

Save your money, buy tools and products and grow your business. Stay out of fantasyville, it's a dangerous place.

How many applications do you get out of a single tub of Vintage?

Nice, so the durability isn't too bad.

Hehe, yeah, sometimes I have a hard time determining durability because of putting another layer over whatever I had on it before. Every two weeks will certainly ensure protection at all times, and with lifetime refills why not.

Damn it, Bee. I thought maybe I had something of value to you. Please do not try to steam those Hydroshocks! :grinno:

User Name, you should have taken the advice of our mayor and adjusted your attitude. Why don't you take a week off to think about whether this is the right forum for you?

P.S. I'd like to remind everyone that the karma/feedback function is working again (it's the first of the four buttons underneath the user's name and information, has a check mark and an 'X' in it). The third button in that same group is an exclamation point; you can use it to report any post that you feel is in violation of the rules (spam, flamewars, etc.)

On my dads car it was still going after 9 weeks, but that's not his daily. He does drive it about 100km a week, though. On drivers it seems like it'll start to disappear around 5-6 weeks, at least around here.

Oh, man, I have *no* idea.... I haven't counted. It's a bunch, though. No real use in counting, cause the refills are free. :)

Pay *no* attention to the hole in the ceiling.... ;)

I should start counting, of course I'm down to 1/2 my tub. If I had to guess I'd say to this point I've applied it, oh, 30 times between my car, my wifes car, dads and moms, and sisters (and brother in law once...shhh :p). I have like 45% of the tub left. Maybe on my next one I'll count.

Yeah but I am guessing the shipping cost to Switzerland and back for a refill is more than what 90% of typical waxes cost, even good waxes. However, if Picus's estimate is correct, and he has used it about 30 times and has 45% left, that makes me believe that a user should be able to get about 50 uses or four years of use with monthly application or two years worth of use with bi-monthly application like I believe you said you do.

Question, in January and February, are you able to apply Vintage when it is below freezing or does the cold make it simply too thick to be able to apply?

I have thought about giving a boutique wax a try like Onyx or Saphir or Concourso but owning a white car I just can't imagine the improvement in look being very noticable. I wonder if the Swisswax products would be similar to Vintage and make washing as easy as you say?

You don't have to ship it to Switzerland. :)

Concorso is a good wax, I think it looks a lot like Vintage. It does clean up well, but not as good as vintage (imo). It's the one other boutique wax I've tried that I'd buy again.

Switzerland? Zymol is made here in the good ole USA. Luckily, I get a huge discount with FedEx, so it'll only cost me twenty bucks total shipping to get a refill.

For some reason I was thinking I heard Zymol was made in Switzerland and you had to ship you containers back to there for refills. Do you ship just the tub back to Zymol or the tub in the glass encasement back?

SB, do you remember what it would have cost you without the discount?
