Holograms with Klasse SG

Would a ring on the other edge of the pad would be go for initial? Is that good enough for the whole hood?

I never prime my pads that way; I try for a more uniform distribution of product than that. Putting it on in a ring/"X" and expecting it to dispurse evenly thoroughout the pad is just to hit-or-miss for me. Even with a finishing pad/LSP I don't like the idea of a large portion of the pad being dry when it comes into intitial contact with the paint either.

I'd *never* put so much KSG on a pad as to be able to do the whole hood of your Lexus without adding more; IME that'll result in a really heavy application on the first ~1/3, less on the second 1/3, and about the right amount for the final 1/3. That kind of approach would work great with Meguiar's #16 and/or 845, but it's just not the way to go with liquid sealants IMO.

Heh heh, somebody who does the exact opposite of what I do oughta chime in so GS4_Fiend can have some varying opinions to consider :D

Just use your hand and an applicator pad when applying KSG... Carnauba waxes can be spread over the entire pad and used by PC pretty easily (although I'm still against it and have never and will never apply an LSP by machine) whereas KSG simply doesn't work the same way... you can either cover the pad and not only apply it too thick but splatter it all over the car/garage/etc. or basically buff just prepped paint with a dry pad, which might not be bad with a softer pad like LC Red, but still seems counterproductive.

Thinking back, I should've just put the applicator pad on the top of the bottle and turned it upside down real quick and applied that until I thought I needed to do that again. I was worried when I did that because I couldn't see it on the paint so I did it again and again lol. Well, live and learn.

Heh heh, that sounds like *everybody's* initial KSG experience :D Yeah, there *is* a learning curve to that stuff, it's sure not just you!

try the wipe on , wipe off method

i wasnt so sure it would work m but last september i layered on 5 coats on our old beater ...its sat out all winter , lots of rain and frosts etc

im pleased to say its still beading all over , bird mess wipes off easily comapred to my other waxed car , the roof and hood arent sheeting like new so they need redoing but its good stuff and the wowo works for me

Hey while we're on KSG...I know the aio can be applied to headlights/windows/wheels, but can the same be said for the sealant glaze?

And so I experimented the KSG last night after 7 hours of polishing my car. *sighs* I used the foam applicator from Meguiars and as soon as I try to drip a drop of KSG it came out too much and it started to slid off the applicator. MAN it's like pure watery. Afterwards, I waited for 30 mins, and O M G it was F*ing hard to be removed! So I sprayed QD on the paint for easy removal. That's my experiment with KSG.

ive got some killer haze/holograms on mine now lol

i spent forever on friday pc'ing with aio and then sealant glaze , looked good with no haze , now a few laters its bad

a finger swipe confirms it wipes clear ...im hoping a good wash and qd will fix it

GS4_Fiend- I guess some applicators are better for KSG than others, I never tried a Meguiar's one. Your PIA experience sounds like a classic case of the same old "too thick". FWIW, I once applied it goofy-thick and let it sit for three days (!). After all that time it wiped off pretty easily...so *just IME* longer wait times make for easier buffing.

steveo3002- Others here have had that "KSG blooming", but it's never happened to me. I hope a good wash fixes everything, the fact that it wipes off is a good sign.

How many coats do you have on there now?

its just on one coat..machined on aio and hand wiped sg

funny thing is my other 2 cars work very well with the twins , i think this other car is just funny paint , or just the fact its so dark it shows the mistakes more

Ah, OK...probably just a bit of blooming from a too-thick application. Seems like that's always the root-cause of any problems.

Yeah, it can be funny what does/doesn't work on particular vehicles. Heh heh, all of ours have different LSPs on them or one reason or another.

Sounds good. It made me felt that I bought the wrong product when I firsted used it.

I honestly have no clue how some of the people are having problems... I know it's hard to remove with a dry m/f towel, but with a little QD it comes right off... either I'm putting nothing on the paint or people are putting 10oz. per car... I use roughly 1oz. for an average sedan for a coat. In any case, I'll show in the video exactly how much I use and how I apply/remove it... hopefully it helps.

well i gave the car a good wash last night and a thorough qd wipe down , wiped the qd around with one towel and buffed with another , i then inspected the car with my brinkmann and found it to be all good

a further inspection this morning shows that some haze /bloom has returned , no where near as much as i had but its there if you look
