High end Turtle Wax?

I tried it out today due to the 1st nice warm day in KC. I used it on my wife's 96 Pathfinder (daily driver). Prepped the finish with AIO and a polishing pad. Buffed with a decent mf and used ICE with a finishing pad set on 3. That stuff is very liquid...darn near like water. It spreads a looooonnng way and the Pathfinder has black porous door handles which I applied right over. Also I did the vehicle in direct sunlight which had no effect. Let it haze for a good 15 minutes (it wasn't that warm in KC...50'ish) and buffed out. Very slick product and easy to apply and remove.



I would think for a "quick", no-tape, minimal prep, ICE would be a good product. One word of caution on the bottle "Do not use on glass"...that is correct! It schmear's worse than Bagel Brothers.



I'll have to see the durability of this which won't be too hard as the Pathfinder is driven daily and parked outside during working hours.

I tried TW Platinum QD and Wheel cleaner.



I cannot believe my eyes. The QD is incredible. I would say it is closer to a spray on wax than a QD, but what a wet shine. It went on fairly easy, basically use two towels, one for the initial wipe, then one to buff to shine. For less than 3$ I could not find anything better for the money. I will try mothers next.



The wheel cleaner was very good as well. I make pick up more wheel cleaner at Target for 50% off.

I gave ICE a try: application was very easy in direct sunlight and going over plastic trim didn't leave any residue. I suspect this product is loaded with silicone.



BUT: after 5 days outside and some rain, a wash revealed how little protection this product gives. Virtually no sheeting of the water was present.

So, it was back to Meg's NXT.

I haven't tried the ICE detailer as I have a bunch of other product to use up.



Totoland Mach
 
I tried the ICE, on a metallic Gold, and Red. Looked much better on the Red. Gives a shiny, glassy apperance. Very little depth at all. Silicone delivery system. Much of it evaporates off.



Looks good for about a week. Protection factor relevant to your climate.



I think the product will appeal to the novice waxer, who wants that "good weekend" look.

Also maybe someone who doesn't have a good shade area for applying and taking off wax.
 
This weekend, I'm helping my friend detail his 2003 Subaru WRX. At the same time, I'm issuing him a challenge, as he happened to buy himself a bottle of ICE. After a claybar session, half of the hood will be waxed with ICE, while the other half with NXT Paste.



Mark my word: I'll make him wish he didn't buy ICE.

Eh, I don't think you'll be able to see a clear difference between two OTC waxes with identical prep.
 
Well I like using the TW Platinum wax... It works fine... Further, it is much cheaper than many out there and delivers almost the same result...

If ICE is any better that TWPUG, it will have no problem spanking NXT, as TWPUG already does.



I don't think however that ICE is in fact any continuation of TWPUG, but rather a totally different product based on the claims of "fully synthetic". Post your results, and even better, try to polish that hood after the claybar.
 
I took at look at this ICE stuff at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago. Eh, just didn't impress me as much, even though I've never tried it, didn't feel like it either, I've never been a huge Turtle Wax fan, I've tried a few of their products (Mostly their "2001 TW Finish Polish" wasn't impressed, and their 2001 Wheel Cleaner... WEAK. My Black Magic All Wheel Cleaner from AutoZone took care of brake dust a LOT better) anyway, I wound up buying myself a bottle of Meguiars Gold Class liquid wax... couldn't be happier with the shine my metallic silver paint gives off.

Neither have I, but don't let the brand fool you. TW makes some excellent products now. :woot2:

Well, I bought a Clay Magic kit and Meguiar's Deep Crystal System Polish today. I will use both of these products on the hood before applying a strip of masking tape for the wax test. I'm betting that the side waxed with ICE will have the same results as seen on Totoland Mach's pics.
 
It's Saturday today, and my friend is gearing up to ICE out his WRX. He just whipped out the rest of his equipment from his sink cabinet. Now I really feel sorry for that WRX...

- Black Magic Trim & Tire Shine

- Turtle Wax Clearvue Auto Glass Cleaner

- Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover
 
Damn, one long thread and very little usage of the product listed in the thread. Well I have been sold on the Ice forever after using it many times now. I can't say it was the only product that really brought shine back to new customers cars but it definately was a big factor. One very HUGE reason that Ice will come out on top of other products is its mutli usage ability. How many times have you been annoyed that you can't use one product to shine everything from metal to plastic to lights and trim all at once? I know I used to hate having to switch products to shine/polish everything. Ice does it's job on everything except tires. Seriously, things like wiper blades and black trim just come to life with shine. It can be put on clean wheels that have been polished. Literally all the components look great and have a shine to them. One thing that you need to do is follow it with a regular wax and carnauba wax coat to maintain the shine longer. In conclusion this is the bread and butter of my detailing kit.

Klasse AIO does all that and more. I have 70-some ounces of AIO yet, so I'll stick with it for a while. :)
 
I have the Ice Detailer and i love it, cleans well, awesome shine, can be used on anything, brings back slickness, it's just awesome. I basically love everything from the platinum line and the ice line isn't bad either.

hey kool,

how would you compare it to some other otc qd's (nxt speed detailer, mother's showtime, eagle one wipe & shine, etc.)
 
I have never tried wipe and shine so can't comment on that but i have tried the rest of them.



I find out of basically all OTC Qd's....



Ice cleans the best out of all of them followed by showtime, TW platinum, Meg's Quik detailer and then NXT speed detailer.



Slickness, Ice again takes the cake. I could not believe how slick the paint was after i went over the car with Ice.... The others rank TW Platinum, Megs quik detailer, NXT and then showtime.



Shine..... I think their all to close to call really.... All leave a nice shine with maybe TW platinum taking top spot.



I find ICE almost like a QD on steroids.... almost like a spray wax.



NXT is your best bet to use on NXT but i find on any other wax it's not all that great. There are better options and for the price turtle wax's detailers are hard to top.
 
Still little results on the durability of ICE. Any of the early users, how long did it keep the water

beading?



On a car forum I belong to, you've got some people thinking it's as good as Klasse Twins making recommendation on ICE over Klasse. Not sure how they came to that conlcusion. This stuff has not been on the market long enough to out last a Klasse application, lol. The twins lasted me 6 months this winter, beading the whole time (AIO x1, SG x3).
