Man, Diamond Kote is still around? I remember my father getting this on his '82 Accord. In fact, I think we still have a bottle of its carwash lying around here somewhere....2hotford said:Hey Guys,
Diamond Kote is marketed as a paint preserver. The company claims that it actually penetrates the paint and makes it more hard and durable. This is suppose to prevent stone chips and maintain a lifelong shine( hahahahaha!!) It is only available to dealers and not the consumer. It comes in a @2oz bottle that is enough to do the whole car. It is very very expensive. It costs around $120 Can. for this small bottle.
I don't know what this stuff is exactly, but shouldn't any polish or pre-wax cleaner get rid of it? I mean, it's probably just a really durable polymer of some kind, right? :nixweiss
Prep for putting stuff like this on can vary. Some of these things clean it for you, others require them to be applied to perfectly clean paint. Generally the opinion here is that these paint protection packages are big ripoffs and you would be better off taking care of the car yourself using other products - there are lots to choose from! Once the paint is fixed, you just have to keep it looking good.
