I have a BLACK harley and next weekend i plan on detailing it first i'm going to use s100 paintwork cleanser 2nd wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant but my question is for my 3rd step i'm going to put a coat of carnuba wax, i have both pinnicale souvreign and dodo juice purple haze which one do you think would look better on a black bike ?

(PS the paint is in excellent condition)

thanks in advance

I dunno which wax will please you more (I've only used the Souveran), but I can't help but wonder if the sealant will work OK over the stuff that the P21s cleaner leaves behind

I have tried putting sealants over P21S GEPC before, and have never had good results; there is *something* in GEPC (probably an oil) that sealants don't like. GEPC is good 'nuba prep, for sure, but for sealant prep, I think the OP would be better off with DWG or one of CG's sealant-safe glazes. I'd go with DWG, but that's just me. :D

That's what I was thinking, the GEPC does leave a fair bit of stuff behind. But I dunno if the P21s GEPC is really the same as the S100 Cleanser or not :nixweiss

So what do i use in place of the s100 ? what about one grand omega glaze ?

any sugestions would be appreciated.

SuperBee364, what sealant/sealants have you tried over P21s that didn't give good results?

I've used F1000 over P21s GEPC with no problems.

UPGP, Zaino 2, 5, and Z-CS, MFMJ, . All four refused to adhere.

You don't *have* to put down a glaze first. :) See how it looks with just the carnauba.

nosbusa1700, not that I'm doubting you at all, but...

Sometimes glaze/sealant incompatibilities aren't all that easy to see, especially right after application. It's easiest to see it on glass. In fact, that's kinda how I test all my glaze/sealant/wax combinations.

Typically, when a sealant/wax "de-adheress" (for lack of a better term) from the clear coat, it leaves a very thin, milky film that is very difficult to see, even on black paint. It's easiest to see on glass, especially with sun coming through just right. This milky film can sometimes be hard to remove, even though it's your LSP de-adhering from the clear coat.

When I had LSP failures in conjunction with GEPC, I had a couple different results.... the Zaino would do splotchy milky film, the FMJ would just simply wipe right off during haze removal, and the WOWO's (both the Z and the UPGP) would produce milky splotches, resulting in areas that were LSP'd and areas that were bare. All of this was found on the glass, not the paint. A valid argument could be made that glazes/lsp's, etc. are made to adhere to clear coat and not to glass, and I'd believe that, but I want my glaze/lsp combo to work on glass, too, so if it fails the glass test, to me it's failed the clear coat test, too.

And again, not to doubt you, :D but now you have me curious... I'm going to go do a GEPC/1000P area on my rear windshield today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get good results like you, 'cause I think that GEPC/1000P would be a *killer* combination. If it works out, we'll all have you to thank for another good glaze/sealant combination. :hifive:

As long as it doesn't take the paint off your car I'll claim the combo of GEPC & 1000P. :chuckle:

I have to say the P21s and 1000p was done on a white vehicle. Not sure if this matters or not, but I didn't noticed any problems applying, or removing the 1000p. It was still beading/going strong for about three months, before I decided to try something else.

Fwiw. I did a test several months back where I prepped one of my vehicles hoods with P21s GEPC, and then after removing I proceeded to use FK1000, FK215, FK216, DG 111, 105, Jetseal 109, Meguiar's#20, NXT 2.0, Opti seal all the Zaino Z-2 Z5 & AIO, Wet Diamond, Wolfgang DGPS, all the Collinite's with no problems.

I didn't really keep up with writing things down, but after observing yesterday before removal the one's you expected to still bead were still doing so.

I got bored yesterday and wanted to prepare for winter, so I stripped the hood with P21s GEPC, and applied Collinite 845, and today finished up by topping with 476s to see how it does this winter.

You may try the combos and have problems, or may not.. but for some reason I haven't.

The only products I ever have any problems with is Zaino. In my area the humidity is normally high, and Zaino won't dry after 15 hrs sometimes. Even applied very thin. If I use Zaino Z2, and Z5. I have to use it in the fall, or early spring if I don't want any smears or streaks.

Hope the P21s GEPC/1000p combo works for you.. Let us know.. :2thumbs:

Nosbusa1700, we have a winner. :)

At least, on my rear windshield. :D

The GEPC/1000P combo is still *completely* transparent after eight hours. No milky splotches, no haze, nothing but clean, shiny glass. Oh, man... the carnauba-y look and glow of GEPC with the "thicker clear coat' look of 1000P.... if you need me, I'll be in the garage....

Sounds good. :xyxthumbs

Now try it on your paint.

You are right about the Zaino (Z-2) and humidity. I usually have to wait for nice (dry) weather to apply...which can be a long wait sometimes of the year. But it is such good stuff and it is the only sealant I now use. I've also had good results with the drying/curing accelerator ZFX. If you haven't tried it you should, I think you will find that it solves your drying problem.
