I've been lurking a while; reading, searching, learning. I finally invested in a Random Orbital and went to work this past weekend on my '99 Porsche 911 (996) Cabriolet.
A few newbie thoughts:
1. Machine polishing makes your arms tired. I thought the machines were going to take the work out of it! :errf:
2. The paint looks *much* better. And I only did a one-stage polish. I'm planning on following up with a more agressive 2-stage polish later on.
3. This was the biggest learning for me: Smooth, shiny paint REALLY HIGHLIGHTS THE OTHER FLAWS in my paint, such as stone chips. Turns out polishing is just the start.
4. My wife thinks I'm crazy.
Anyway, Thanks for all I've read. Hoping to jump in with both feet going forward.
