Heavy swirls+scrathces=heavy buffing/wet sanding for a black Mustang GT **56K--NO WAY

Amazing work!

If I saw a car like that on the road in its current condition, I would think that it had been pampered its entire life. Nice that ppl like you can wipe away a cars ugly past.

Hopefully the owner will be more diligent in keeping it in this condition.

Awesome work man. Really, awesome. Hope you got paid good for it.

Dude, enter this thing in extreme detail contest! I know no one has posted for a while, but if someone starts it off, you never know. And I'd call this an extreme detail! :) Was this an exterior only detail?

Very nice detail on everything. Paint looks great, engine bay looks great, everything looks great.

Wow, thanks for the compliments everyone!!!

Let me see if I can answer everyone's questions. :)

It was an exterior only detail, I charged $325. I did not skip any steps on the bumper, even though IMO nothing short of a repaint will fix it.

I will definitely take pictures of the brushes used on the engine, but the EZ detaili s the *main* brush that I use.

Seth, yep there was some stuff that was just too deep. On my test spot I tried a section with #84 with a knitted wool pad(after heavy buffing, but before #83), but it didn't seem to do much better. IMO, this is the best paint can look, perhaps it can be improved with a few more sessions with the polisher, but then how much paint is left? At least I am honest with the 85% assessment. ;) :D I haven't really considered any of the other spray sealants because OCW works fine for, they(the others) probably would too. I just use it to "clean up" any left over residue on the paint and glass.

Thanks again everyone!!!!

Wow...looks terrific now! :xyxthumbs 7 hours... it takes me that long to do a normal detail with one polishing step. Maybe once I get my Makita I can speed it up.

Those are some fancy sidewalls if I've ever seen any.

Man, if every car you detail and I get 10 cents, I be rich. :grinno:

Thats hella excellent job on the wet sanding btw :up

Awesome work. :bow

Significant renovation of paint and engine bay. Some of those engine parts look brand new. :)

P.S. I feel bad for Autopians on dial-up.

Simply Awesome :spot I can't believe the transformation. I bet the owners jaw dropped when he saw the results. :2thumbs:

When I read the "wetsanding" in the thread's title, well, that was a clue :D Heh heh, after seeing this one, I can't help but wonder "what's next?!?"

You deserve a few weeks of nice, easy details after that...it's almost like you're becoming a specialist in bringing ratty beaters back from the dead ;)

LOL!! I swear, every detail that I get is *horrible*!!! Oh well, it just makes doing the "easier" cars "easier." :D

Next weekend I have two the same day--both are going to filthy and full of swirls from the description. I guess I'll pack a lunch *and* dinner. :D

BTW, do you see the "crackling" that big mike 13 was asking about, do you know what that is? There were spots like this all over the paint, but it was most notable on the very front of the hood????

Probably chips, that are starting to chip themselves. Or rust. I know the blazer has one of those on the roof. I almost had a heart attack when I first saw it.

Anyways, that was a superb job, I'm impressed, and it takes a lot to impress me.

I cannot believe you only took 7 hrs to complete that. Fantastic job-I hope you got a fat tip. I do not think I would have touched that car.
