Heavy swirls+scrathces=heavy buffing/wet sanding for a black Mustang GT **56K--NO WAY

.. do you see the "crackling" that big mike 13 was asking about, do you know what that is? There were spots like this all over the paint, but it was most notable on the very front of the hood????

Yeah, I did see that. Must be some weird kind of clearcoat failure. Looks more like the sort of thing I see on old lacquer :nixweiss If it was a repainted area (which I don't think it is) I'd say he mixed his paint wrong or had contamination that compromised adhesion.

Otherwise I just dunno...doesn't look like corrosion, almost like brake fluid-type damage that didn't totally destroy the paint.

It's weird because I asked the owner nand he said that "a lot" of owners had this problem(perhaps he checked on the forums??). He said they they (the forum members???) referred to it as "stress points," which didn't make much sense to me. The parts that were resprayed did NOT have these markes, only the OEM paint. I have never seen anything like it, it was like a phaux finish "crackle" effect. :D

Thanks for the compliments everyone!!

I have owned 4 late model mustangs ranging from years 88-96 and have never heard of that. Sounds like bs to me as well.

Excellent job, your work speaks for itself.

Scott- are you not happy that you don't have to take on cars like this? :)

You didn't see the Camaro I did today but normally, most of the cars I do are in decent shape to begin with.
