Been really busy over the holidays like everyone else I'm sure, finally got around to giving HD Cut a good back to back testing:
Cut:5
Ease of use 4
Dusting 5
Work time 4
Removal from surface 3
Finish after use 4
Flexibility with various machines NA
Price (tbd) 5
Smell (or lack of) 5
Labeling 5
I tested this on my 95 Wrangler that has lived a hard life, outdoor 24x7x365x17 years and still on original paint! Probably waxed 1/2 a dozen times in its life, if that. Used a Megs maroon pad on a GG6 at speed 5. I'll follow up with a full review and pics soon.
What I liked:
-HUGE reduction in working overhead vs M105. The level of cut is similar to M105, there are much less headaches and side effects.
-Very little dust, on a scale of 1-10, this is a 1 and M105 is a 12.
-Long working time
-Cuts quickly, on par with 105, maybe more? The Jeep paint wasn't exactly rock hard, but HD cut leveled it FAST.
-Doesn't gum up the pad
-Nice consistency, not too thin, not too thick
Areas for improvement:
-I seemed to get little balls of HD Cut instead of dust, much easier to clean, and it didn't gum up my pads, I'm not sure its realistic to ask for the compound to disappear into thin air...
-Pads are much harder to clean out than M105. M105 rinses out easily, HD Cut does not.
This stuff is a huge win for me, I get the same level of cut as M105 and none of the mess. I need to try this out on some hard clear to really get an idea, but so far, this is great stuff!
