Happy with Klasse AIO/SG and couple questions

Did my car today (wash, clay, AIO and SG) and I’m quite happy with the result. Won't be a a few days before I have time to add the next coat of SG (after a wash of course). I have a couple of questions in the mean time.

I was careful today not to apply too much AIO/SG, heeding the advise on this forum. I used barely a quarter oz of AIO and SG each for the whole car (I had them in small plastic flip top bottles so I could see how much I have used). Mind you, it’s a small car (Civic). Do these amounts sound about right for a car this size? Should I be using a little bit more?

There’s quite a bit of road repairs (tar!) this time of year. I suspect my car will pick up a few specks of tar before the next coat of SG. If I need to remove the tar either by spot claying or using some solvent, do I need to re-do that spot/area with AIO first (and then followed by SG) or can I simply apply SG (without applying AIO again) over the area after cleaning the tar?

Thanks in advance.

It's good that you're using as little product as possible. However, even for a Civic, I personally think (I'll admit I've never used Klasse :)) that a quarter of an ounce is just a tad too little. Maybe around 3/4 of an ounce?

After cleaning areas with clay, it never hurts to put on some AIO before working with the SG. I'd use the AIO.

have a play around one panel if you'd like to try a little more....you'l soon know as its a pain to wipe off when you use too much

im not sure what amount i use...but you can barely see theres anything there

Using a little more AIO and even a little more SG than recommended is not necessarily a bad thing. It is just wasteful as not much product is needed to be effective. Also, if you are not careful you can create a lot more work for yourself in trying to remove the haze.

The wowo method is a good one to use for these products and is a little more forgiving than if you let it sit on the paint a while, especially SG. But if you find it hazing you are better off using a spray (mister bottle is even better) of 3 parts distilled water/1 part SG. Spray this on the haze and it should work out easily. In a pinch, any QD would work.

As far as road tar is concerned just be sure all is removed before you apply SG. If you clay beforehand I would not hesitate to use AIO over the spot again. SG needs at least 12 hours to cure, unlike AIO which requires no cure time. Therefore, you can use SG right over AIO but must wait between coats of SG. In fact it is best to not drive the car between coats or you end up having to wash it again even if it looks spotless. If it is impossible not to drive between coats, just wait until your normal weekly wash and apply the second coat at that time. SG will seal anything on your paint to your paint so you must be very cautious.

I'll use a bit more SG for the next coat and see how it goes. I used the WOWO method and encountered no problems. I'll be sure to reapply AIO before SG if I have to remove tar. Guess it's better to ensure a clean surface for the SG.

Thanks all for your replies.
