Greasy Mess On Navigation Screen......

Diamonite makes a good Nav screen cleaner. I had one and when it got used up I started using iClean (or iclear). it is made for cleaning the Imac laptop screens and it works as well.

I'm not trying to ignore everyones suggestions at this point. Matter of fact, I am Googling each and every source that you all are providing (BTW, Richy KK is some awesome stuff 4 sure) I'm pretty much just at a stand still at this point. There is no telling how many hours I will end up investing in this venture just doing research alone

So heres where we are....Director Director Director

Swirl-a-Magic installed greasy mess onto screen. Vasoline removed 100% of that, but now we are facing scratches that look like someone thought this system had a scroll feature. It doesn't. I am suspecting the owners teenage Son borrowed the car and picked up his GF. At this point she was probally going at it like crazy trying to change the radio station :-t

Again, thanks everyone for your suggestions. One way or another this issue will get resolved and hopefully this info will be able to help others in the future Da Rules!

Flash(chad) also you can try CG extreme acrylic glaze with 100PPI foam applicator with "Lot's of patience" it will take a hour or more if the Meguiars product does not work that Angelo told you about.

There no one can say I do not give out any tips <:-P as the screen if the wrong products or steps are used can be $1,200.00 to replace not to mention loss of use to the customer while the car is being worked on.

And here is the winning answer ^

I wasn't able to find the 100ppi app pad u mentioned. Actually I have no idea what a 100ppi app pad is and was afraid to ask (what will ppl think of me if I don't know everything) I ended up just using a chunk of an old white polishing pad I had (is that close to a 100ppi?) It took multiple passes and alot of anxious moments, but those scratches are gone now <:-P There was one left about the lenght of a match head that was really deep. I left this one for the owner and his son to ponder on just so they want get it in there head that no matter what they do, Flash can fix it. I gotta break these ppl of this train of thought. I think they are trying to kill me /:)

Director Director Director Thank you Mr. Bob Willis for coming to my rescue again. I believe this is #3 and you have nailed it each and every time. When (if) I ever grow up I wanna be just like you :ar!

Thanks again to all who responded to this thread. I couldn't have done it without each and everyone of you guys support :notworthy:

BTW...Chad = Rasky :o

Flash - glad this came as a happy ending for you and Bob is a wealth-o-knowledge :-B

I'm glad it worked out for you Flash. I would listen to any advise that Bob gives. His results are always breathtaking, and he is at the top of the profession.:notworthy:

No doubt ^

I gotta admit though. before I hit the screen the first time I was abit nervous. I'm quite sure I could see an image of Bobs face in the screen. I could almost hear him saying > You can do this Flash :soldier:

Being 2010 this vehicle is still under warranty. I'd use P21S TAW to remove greasy dressing. Being the safest degreaser out there it would be your best bet. Once all grease is removed, clean the screen with 1Z Cockpit premium to remove degreaser from the screen (you don't wanna let degreaser dry).
I don't think it will cause any issues, and it it will - that's what warranty is for...just don't tell the dealer what you did...

Slight correction........"you can do this........with the quickness" copyrighted/trademarked by "The Bing" Inc.

Glad this worked out, it is something that happens often(marred/greasy) film on the navigation screen.CG wet mirror/Acrylic wet glaze works very well on this type of surface along with plastic windows and polycarbonate surfaces.

Here is a example I put up before on DB, but in case others here have not seen this it displays the amount of correction that can be accomplished.

Not only a stunning job on that F-car, but I'm gawking at that garage. Nice to know there are products that work like that without spending $$ on a replacement window.

Yes, I remember that car and the garage. Everything about both screams California \m/

Thank you again for helping me out Bob. Its good to know when I get stumped there are ppl like yourself I can bounce ideas off of. Before I found the forums, all I had was Trouble to seek advice from and quite frankly I believe she was getting tired of my constant line of questioning. She has much more important things to do Sleep

Yes flash, this does have a "CALI" feel to it. Wish I could post pics of the home I worked @ in Fairbanks Ranch(North County San Diego)recently...........over 100 hundred mature palm trees on the property, 10 car garage with 2,100 sq/ft apt above the garage, heliport(yes the client has a helicopter)8 ferrari's, 1 Bentley Brooklands, Maybach 62, Panamera Turbo, Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, along with 19,000 sg/ft house on 3.5 acres of Tuscan style "Tightness" easily my favorite home I have been to but "NO PICS ALLOWED"...............:( (I have two clients like this, one up here and this guy).

The toilet paper in one of the bathrooms in the apt above the garage matches the "Faux" paint on the walls in the bathroom, it is beyond..............

Bob - everything I have seen you do over the past year or so (that's how long I have been on this and other boards) defines "tightness". You run a tight ship of a business and have some fantastic clients.

Thank you Grungy, there are others though that do not share your sentiment...............

I can't imagine why Bob. You are one of 2 or 3 detailers who inspire me every time. When I think of the work that you have done, it always makes me think, that I need to get to that level some day (like that's ever going to happen).

Keep it up and always remember to share your pics with your TID family.:Dancing Dot:
