This Alero was dirty when it was dropped off by a friend. She said she stopped washing it on a regular basis because it looked so bad to her whenever she did...how bad could it be?
Well, the entire car was so swirl-marked and spider-webbed I nearly called her and told her to take it back home. In addition, there were some pretty major scratches on almost every panel.
The only surprise I got was that I felt no need to clay the car at all. The surface was actually smooth (except the scratches). This car is only 2 years old...my god, how does this happen? lol
I decided to make a go of it, and definitely had my work cut out for me...
1. Wash
2. Dry with waterblade and cotton towels (like the blade was going to hurt this finish in any way, lol)
3. 3M Perfect-It Swirl Remover over entire vehicle, (paying special attention to extreme-problem areas) with Simoniz orbital polisher
3. Zaino Z5 with ZFX (by hand)
4. Z6 QD
5. Z5 with ZFX (by hand)
6. Z6 QD
7. Z2 with ZFX (by hand)
8. QD
In between coats I vacuumed the interior and the trunk, finding about 8 bux in change haha, cleaned the door and trunk jams, did the windows, and detailed the tires with a thin coat of Eagle 1 Wet-Shine.
When I wheeled it out of the garage at 8:30pm, it was looking quite a bit better than when the day started.
Needless to say, my friend was quite happy, and will hopefully attempt to take better care of her car over the summer.
Included is a before pic of the hood...after pic to follow.

P.S. No, I didn't keep the change!
