Got to see a Blue Angels practice session...

1 Clean WS6

Detailing Rottweiler
....FOR FREE!!!!!!!! :getdown

The Blue Angles are in town this week to perform in an airshow at Dobbins AFB this weekend. One of my regular clients is located right next to the base and today as I worked on his car The Angels ran through their routine for the show this weekend!!! I apologize for the UFO-esk quality of the photos but my digital camera is not fast enough to keep pace with those jets. I have to tell you...I was utterly in awe. The detail probably took an hour longer than it should have because I kept stopping to watch!! :cooleek:

Wow looks like you got to see some real cool moves by them. have always been in awe of their flying. it is hard to believe what they can do until you see it. glad you got some pics to share with us. thanks again :bigups

That's awesome as those things are incredible in person. It's amazing the power they have and how loud they can be. They literally shake you out of your boots. Congrats on the free show. :xyxthumbs :woohoo:

I just saw them this past Saturday at Thunder Over Louisville and they are amazing. MUCH more fun than the usual airshow (which is also very cool). Everyone was in complete awe. They fly formations where they are 18 inches apart!

I'd rather see photos of Robin Meade - she flew practice with them earlier this week. Okay...gotta go...commercial is over...Robin's back on. :)

Did you get to see their "Fat Albert" crew plane take off? That thing is a beast and needs practically no runway.

Got to see an SR-71 back in the late 80s.

Now that's the one "plane" I'd give my left arm to see in flight, though the Blue Angels are near the top of the list (a flight of vintage P-38s or F4Us would be another :o ); how the HECK did you get to see a Blackbird?!

It made a stop over at McClellan AFB one day, I found out about it and took a walk over to the flight line. Yup, there it was. I was about 200 yards away from it.

I've seen them perform 2-3 times, just awesome each time. The C-130 JATO (jet assisted take-off) demo is also incredibly cool. :)

Great pics Mike, thanks for sharing them!

A few years ago, in Reading PA, they must have been using our office building as a reference point. They were making their turns repeatedly right over our parking lot. You could see the pilot's face behind his shield. VERY cool! One of the guys in the office was a retired navy fighter pilot, we couldn't pull him away from the window!

There's an awesome documentary on the History Channel about it. What a marvel of engineering. I believe it is the only US aircraft used in hostile environments that has never been shot down.

Nice, I've been watching them at school all week. Did you hear that the traffic centers were getting calls for downed planes yesterday? :lol My favorite move is the 60* angle attack. That is just insane, I bet they're pulling some massive gs.

I believe it can go up to 80,000 ft. It was used often in Desert Storm, with A-10s, F-111s, F-16s. All I get to see nowadays are F-16s all day long.
