Got to see a Blue Angels practice session...

I got to climb all over an SR 71 @ the museum in Hutchinson KS a few years ago. Buddy of mine knew someone there. It was back in a storage shed, partially dismantled.

nice pics mike. i think it's been 10 years since i last saw the blue angels. and just a couple years ago when i saw the thunderbirds. nothing like hearing the roar of jet fighter engines to swell your patriotism. now that's the sound of freedom! :usa

I saw them last year at an air show. They were truely amazing. Fat Albert was also pretty freakin' awesome!

When I was stationed on Okinawa ('83 & '84), we had two SR-71s. I watched them take off numerous times. We had an air show one year and I got within a couple feet of one, they really are an awesome looking machine.

When I was a kid on Long Island, Grumman was a big outfit not far from where I lived. We would get sonic booms now and then. One time, while I was playing outside I heard jets flying really low, I looked up and saw the blue and gold of the Angels flying right over me (I might have been six or seven).

But of course, on Okinawa, they were usually called "Habu", after the feared local poisonous viper!! :soscared:

Yes they were!

I only saw a "Habu" slowing down once. You'd see this slim, black line in the sky and then he would bank it and you'd get the top view - totally awesome!
