‘Goodbye’ Integra, ‘Hello’ G35 ; a buy/sell story

Bill: I washed twice, rinsed 3 times and used a lot of vinegar. The smell mostly came out.

It just worries me to put something in a gas heated dryer that smells like fuel, ya know :)? I wonder if there is anything that would work quicker.
 
Just drape them somewhere and let them air out for a while. I couldn't even tell you which MFs were the ones I used with New Car Prep. The odor does go away.

As far as a 4-door, it's all I've had along with my truck. That only gets used for work though. I love to be the one to drive and hate to ride. Everyone always rides with me, but I'm getting kinda tired of it though. I swear if I find another scuff mark on the back of my leather seats caused by some girl (while I'm not back there), they'll be banned from my car. Maybe it's the girls I hang out with, but when you get 3 or 4 of them in a car together, it's a recipe for a traffic collision. If I got the 2-door, the backseat would be off limits. I really have no need for more than 1 passenger anyway.

I've thought about the 350Z because it's only got 2 seats, but I just don't have the same feeling toward that car as the G35.

All this talk of the G has made me want to go test drive it again.


heffer: At first I was really turned off by the interior, but then again I was first looking at an 03. The 05/06 is definitely better, but what parts turn you off? (just curious)

My uncle has a 03 4-door G35, and I couldn't agree with you anymore. I wonder is heffer is referring his comments to that year.
 
There is nothing like the smell, feel and feeling of a new car, and yours is a beauty. I hope it gives you many, many years of happiness. It looks great and Im sure is a lot of fun.

Im ready for a ride whenever you are!

Does the sticker (near the center hood latch) say anything about 'Hard Clear'?

The whole feel of it. Go sit in a Lexus IS250/IS350. If that doesn't highlight the differences and what I don't like about the Infiniti, nothing will.

Go drive an Infiniti M/T through some straight, curvey, and downhill roads and you tell me what differences get highlighted between a Lexus "IS", considering the only performance I see Lexus with is a drag. The goals of many car manufactueres aren't always the same.

An Infiniti is geared towards SPORT/LUXURY. Sorta like a BMW. Ever notice that people say BMW's interiors aren't luxurious enough? Well thats why. Its a blend of both, but with the main ingredient being sportiness.

I always look at it like BMW, Audi, Infiniti are SPORT/LUXURY

and...

Mercedes Benz, Lexus, are LUXURY/SPORT...

I must agree with heffer, the int. of an IS is nicer than a G35, but I wouldnt even say lexus is LUXURY/SPORT, more just LUXURY, which is why I would never buy a lexus. The G35 feels so much better driving wise, although I have a neighbor who traded his g35 up to a caddy CTS-V.

If you want to regurgitate what the mags all spout, that's certainly your prerogative. My opinion differes substantially based on my experience with both cars. There's not much point in arguing about it. I bought what I drive for a specific set of reasons. But I will say that, as a driver of manual transmission cars for the last 15 years including an S2000 most recently, I have no complaints about the transmission in the IS for sporting driving on public roads. Of course, I get my real fix on the track in a racecar, so smoking little old ladies and stupid kids on public roads wasn't high on my priorities list.

I don't want to argue with you, but just comment on what you said. Who said getting a car with a little power was for street racing? There are a lot of times where you need some power in your daily driver. It could save your life. It's also nice not having to downshift all of the time just to get some power out of your car. You mention the S2000. Sure it can get up and move, but only after being revved to high hell. It's not a very traffic friendly car. Although my driving time with the IS is limited, I came to the same conclusion about it.

Woah! Way to backlash. I think you should re-read my post with a different frame of mind, as I was not trying to put down any car manufactuer or trying to say one is better than the other...Thread has gone offtopic and turned into something its not...

Ummm... ok. You lost me, but whatever. It was all in good fun. I just made a comment about the interior that you decided to expand into other areas. If you'd prefer to not go that route now, fine by me :howdy

Ummm... again, you lost me. I think you completely missed the point of what I was attempting to say, but nevermind, it's really not terribly important.

The only point I was attempting to make many moons (posts) ago was that my personal opinion is that Infiniti does a horrid job on their interiors, and need to look to competitors like Lexus and Audi to step up their game. It's not a shot against the cars owner... if he likes it, yay for him.

Looks like your the only one that is lost.

You made a blanket statement about Infiniti's interior and when we ask what specifically you didn't like. You gave us the extremely detailed :rolleyes: answer of "the whole feel of it". Is it possible you could give us a little more thought behind your reasoning?

What is it with people and the internet demanding explanations of gut felt opinions? If we were two buddies walking down the road and we saw a new Inifiniti parked, we'd take a look inside. You'd say, "Gee, isn't that nice" and I'd say "Holy crap I think that's horrid", and that would be the end of the discussion. It's my opinion. I don't like the interior. Who gives a xxxx what the reasons are, it's not going to change your viewpoint, nor will Infiniti go build a new one just for me.

The car looks great and I love the color. I liked the G35 alot better when they "freshened" last year. I love the sport package on it. I have never seen those wheels before, are those the ones from the coupe? How come you didn't splurge for the 35X? I heard they are great in snow. Enjoy!
 
Hynduai makes a good point. Along with what Sean mentioned. That the last year of a generation is when the carf is at its bloom. When most gliches are fixed and its styling has had all the upgrades it could get.
