G110 vs PC 7424

I'm in the market for either of these, price is in my ballpark, any opinions. Thanks PM

PS , will need a 800 watt inverter.

I've had my PC for almost 4 years now, I don't think there was a "G110" back then... And anything that did come out was just a relabelled PC7424 anyway!

I'd be interested in seeing what a G110 really is like, because I think my 7424 has PLENTY of power on speed 6, which is where I do all my polishing.

Any more than that and out comes the Rotary

The Meguiar's G100 was a re-badged PC 7424. The G110 is NOT. It is a different, approximately 25% more powerful motor and that power is definitely a huge plus as the number one problem/complaint with a DA is the lack of power.

Get the G110.

but then again you're not supposed to use a DA to really correct are you? I bought mine just to polish and spread waxes and glazes. Any correction that is CAN do would just be a huge plus.

Well, any serious defects or deep scratches are really better handled with a rotary...but swirl removal and water spot removal can many times be handled with a DA, and like you said...the power would be a huge plus for those times. :buffing:

with the right pad/product combos and good skills/technique, you would be surprised on what you can correct with the a DA...

so are these 2 100% compatible (G110 & PC 7424)

I have a PC with lots of pads and Edge 2k pads (and adaptor). Wanna get a G110 to be able to work faster (if a friend of my brother helps out). Are the pads and Edge pads gonna be all compatible ??

thanks

look at it this way as far as power... PC > G110 > FLEX. as long as you can unscrew the backing plate out and use the same threading, you should be fine using the edge adapter/pads...

i have never seen a G110 in the flesh ... not sure how the backing plate unscrews and if the parts are the same size as the PC

ideally I'd get a Flex 3401 because in terms of power it blows the G110 and PC out of the water but the Edge 2k adaptor doesnt really work with it - there's so much power it fails - I've seen photos of a couple of pros in Australia and they've said Flex 3401 + edge 2k adaptor is a no go solution. Aparently edge 2k work well with Flex rotaries but the 3401 DA is no good with that adaptor

are you talking about the new edge conversion for the Flex? YouTube - Edge 2000 Flex Conversion!!!!!

I'm in pretty much the same position as the OP (don't need an inverter though). Where does the UDM come in terms of power? I've seen it for the same price as the G110, $149. The PC can be had for as low as $109 on-line, not including eBilk. Then there's the Flex, but is that actually too much tool for a noob like me?

yeah that's what I'm talking about but it's not really very good apparently with this particular Flex model...

here's some info I copied pasted from another forum in relation to the same problem

So there is an adaptor for The Edge 2000 pads compatible with the Flex 3401? where from? how much?

I thought they're still working on on. From what I've read there's a flex rotary adaptor only available. Is that right?

I'd love to be able to use my Edge pads from the PC straight on a new Flex 3401 if I end up buying one

Correct ! But sorry to give you the bad news i have tested this system on my Flex XC 3401 VRG and the three adaptors i tested all failed ! The last one actually broke the screw that tightens the adaptor itself ! The screw literally got stuck into my Flex DA and i had to get someone to remove it .

Thank God they did !

If this screw would have been stuck for good i would have had a huge repair bill from Flex ! I don't advise buying one for the outlined results that i have had :(

The Rotary adaptor is the only one that i have not had problems with ,

the Flex Adaptor was not designed for the the Flex XC 3401 VRG even if Edge in America tells you that it has . This machine has tremendous torque and the lateral forces will put any adaptor system into a difficult situation , meaning it will loosen the screw and break the backing plate like this

This is only a Prototype that Edge is working on and until such time that Flex approves it i will not be using such a system again !

Flex XC 3401 VRG was designed to work with a Velcro system not a quick connect system otherwise Flex would have made such a system by now !

a bit off topic I know... but any comments on my last post re the edge 2k adaptor for the Flex 3401 ? anyone else having issues like that?

wow, looks like even the Flex has too much power for that Edge adaptor. to be honest with you, i never really cared for Edge products (their foam sticks are junk IME) and i hope this doesn't happen to anyone else...
