Front and rear windows, PITA

Is it just me or does anyone else have issues cleaning front and rear windows. Seem like I can never get the streaks or grim out in a timely manner, it takes me forever!

Tools..

Stoner invisible glass cleaner

Steel wool #0000

microfiber towel

Razor ( if needed)

I spray the window with stoner and go over the surface with wool then wipe clean. Same deal on the inside but I use my back hand to help get in tight spots.

Get out inspect and i see streaks or the pattern of my hand motion. I then have to repeat about 3-5 times to get it right. Anyone one have tips or suggestions?

One trick that I have learned with glass cleaning is to rub the outside of the glass left to right and the inside top to bottom...that way if you do see a streak you'll know if it's on the inside of the glass or the outside.

Haven't tried the glass master as of yet though it is on my wish list.

Make sure your final pass is with a relatively dry towel. Also, I have found that dedicated glass towels work really well. I use this one and couldn't do with out it. (works great on my plasma TV too!)

Hummm...I've looked at that a few times. Anyone else used this before?

yup works great. stoner's has there own version and besides the color i not sure what the difference is between the two.

wipe the inside 90 degrees to the outside to help you determine if the streaks are inside or outside.

Gotta second the recommendation to make a second pass with a dry towel. I'll go over all the glass with cleaner and the same towel folded in 4ths to get 8 sides. I'll use that towel to clean all the Windows and use the majority of the 8 sides, just flipping when the towel gets dirty. Then I take a new clean dry towel and rewipe all of the Windows to remove the streaks caused by the dried glass cleaner and light grime. That will work 95% of the time. Sometimes I will have to go over it again if the Windows were extra dirty.

On super dirty Windows, even using an AIO can do wonders at cleaning them and removing any streaks.

Side note: I wonder why my phone automatically capitalizes Windows? :)

I have a microfiber mitt that I find does a good job on interior windows. The mitt fits my hand and allows me to apply strong pressure everywhere which helps a lot.

I'm anal about clean glass to the point that if I'm driving and see a streak, I'll pull over to clean it (keep a small cleaning kit in the trunk). I like to do windows early in the morning or later in the evening when the sun is low. After "cleaning them" (Invisible glass), I point the car into the low sun to show ALL streaks or spots I may have missed. Just hit them with a clean, dry towel until they're gone. Turn the car and move on to the next.

Another recommendation for cleaning the windows, letting the streaks dry on then going over with a clean dry towel. Best and most painless method IMO.

Sometimes fogging the streaks with your breath and then wiping dry works---especially on mirrors.

Try this, grab a terry cloth towel. Dampen it, go over the inside glass side to side with the damp towel, then follow it up with a dry clean towel of your choice to buff it dry. The reason I said to go side to side on the inside IS: Usually I'll do the outside top to bottom so that I can tell if I need to, where to touch up if there is a streak. I know some may not like it, but Rain-X is a process that usually gets the outside windows SPARKLINGLY clean!

Steel wool on windows? Stick with a towel unless you've tried all other options first the key is to get that second fluffy towel to get the small drops left on the window after the first pass just like Onr really.

There isn't a foolproof method for cleaning glass, too many variables. Bugs, sap, road grime on the outside; vinyl fog, hand prints, snot from sneezing, nose prints from dogs, etc. When I am dealing with really bad windows, I wash the inside of them with ONR and I get them good and wet, then they are a lot easier to clean. I change out the MF towels as often as needed to get the glass streak free.

two microfibers, soak one w/ water and keep other dry....clean up/down and dry left right. do all exterior windows w/ one set and interior w/ separate set. good luck

lately i've had a lot of streaking issues with stoners so i changed to 3d 50 to 1 and have a lot less streaking issues. so besides getting the glass master pro or the stoners version try another glass cleaner.

+1 to this. Streaking is annoying, but ensuring that the windows are completely dry after you're done with them really helps.

My opinion as well; some of today's Auto glass is a lot softer than it was back in the day.

What dilution are you using? I haven't mixed mine up yet, but I've heard it works best around 35:1.

I have three dogs... there are constant "nose prints "on the insides of my home's entry doors, and when they do get to ride in the Jeep (the offical dog hauler in the stable), the dogs like to "autograph" the windows with their "signature"!

I keep a bottle of Stoners IG by the entry door and one in the Jeep for when they do come along for a ride.
