FK2180 and PW, not impressed....

Im thinking about melting some PW and Nattys Blue together today to see what kind of hybrid I can come up with.

then you just squeeze out 1/2 an ounce or just apply it out of the big bottle like any other sealant and you dont need zfx after the first coat

1/4 an ounce is more than enough for one coat on my car (hatchback). The ZFX bottles aren't practical for this small of an amount. But I definitely like the ZFX-enhanced Z2. In my experience, drying time is siginificantly improved for first coat and thereafter when using the accelerator.

I never really liked the Zaino bottles for ZFX. They're sort of a pain.

What I do is keep the clear ones for extras but buy the slightly translucent ones from The Container Store since they are soft and pliable and perfect for Zaino. They are less than a dollar.

Just a question, do you work for FK? You seem very passionate about everything that FK has. Just curious.

Thought I'd point out that as it says below his userid, Bence lives in Hungary and he has to pay through the nose to get the FK stuff shipped to him. He definitely does not work for them.

KGB,

I write just as passionately about Collinite, Mothers, Optimum, 1Z and countless products I have and I love. FK is no exception. BTW, Hungary is more than 10.000 kms away from Cali.

I've got to admit that I scratched my head as I read the original post. FK products have delivered terrific results for me as have the many other products I use. Just goes to show that what works for some doesn't exactly work for others.

FK 2180 Sealant and 425 Detailer for me!

I was a diehard Zaino guy and will still use it (why not, I have 2 bottles) on my Corvette.

But...on the daily drivers I had a heck of a time waiting for it to dry in the MN winters.

FK gives me the same longevity, Dries fast in the winter...... I do not want to mix chemicals to make something work.

Works great on my black daily driver and I cannot tell the difference in shine when used side by side with Zaino

Later,

JU

Well maybe I am too fussy. Its just not the look that I was expecting with all the hype. Again I feel my prep was as good as it could be. I am sure that some will like it but on my color car it did not do what I felt the hype was up to.

I just bought Jeff's today so I will try that and do a direct comparison by the wekeend.

KGB,

What kind of appearance do you prefer exactly?
Well I like the sharp look of Zaino that will make my flake pop but I also want (if possible) the wet shimmer that GSR and GregCavi have on their vehicles. I do not know if there is a product like that. I achieved it with the original Zaino formula but not with the Z2Pro. I am anxious to see what Jeff's does.

Hey you gave it a shot at least. NOt everyone likes the same thing. For example I loved the fk1 line on my car, but really didnt care for the zaino lineup at all. To each his own. P.S. if your getting rid of it shoot me an email: greg@pinnacle-detailing.com

Greg
I will save the bottle for you to have when you come down to teach me how to detail my engine. No charge as a small "thank you."

Greg uses a LOT of FK, and Sean's go to carnauba is FK Pink. 425 is a nowhere-without-it product.

However, when you want a wet look, you can use for example Jeffs Werkstatt AJ, Natty's Blue, or Mothers Reflections.

For a reflective/wet combo, use Mothers FX, topped with Reflections Top Coat. FX is reflective and TC brings back the flake pop big time. Looks killer.

Another alternative: TWPUG! It will also be mind blowing.

On titanium, you can use also OCW×4-5 (it'll get easier and easier), and let it cure for at least a day to judge.

When choosing from FK's products, use those which have a warmer, wetter look: 218/216/1000P/FX-100. Add 425 as needed. If you have the more reflective ones; balance them out!

Meguiar's #21 is also an excellent, harmonious-looking, velvety wet product. Top NXT paste with it and you'll have a fantastic appearance!

You'll always be able to fine tune the final look by choosing the right ingredients - just be sure what EXACTLY you want and how do you want to achieve this. Try a lot of products and let them show their true face. Do not top them - wait a week. Add something or strip it. Try another; panel-by-panel if you wish. Apply them slowly. Look at them from an angle, look at them at night how they glow, look at their reflections, the peripherial areas. This way you'll be able to learn more subtle details, their 'aetheric' signature cues.

Lots of people are satisfied when the car shines. I know how I want it to shine and I apply products the way/sequence that satisfies my mood.

Just got done trying out the 2180 on my black Saturn. I like it. Looks nice and wet and was easy to remove...reminds me alot of Megs #21. Hopefully, I'll get a chance tomorrow to add a coat of PW.

I recommend for anyone that's curious, to try out their sample kit. Under 23 bucks shipped with the Autopia discount. Per ounce, it's half price over the consumer sizes. As a bonus, the smaller bottles are pretty handy. Comes with the 2180, PW, 425 QD that everyone is raving about, some shampoo, APC, a light polish and some VRP protectant.

Wow, great post!! Answer me this question if you would not mind, kind of off the topic of the initial thread. If you use a product like VM or RMG what can you put on top of it?

For instance I used to use the 3 step combo of Vanilla Moose, FinalPolish (not the menzerma kind http://carpolishes.safeshopper.com/11/cat11.htm?78) and s100. The FP which is a polly would adhere over the VM even with all of its oils. Everytime I think about going back to VM I get worried that if I apply a polly over it like #20, #21, PBS EX-P its not going to bond with it. Will it? I guess in a nutshell I like how products wet the surface like VM, I like to seal it for protection with a polly (2 to 4 coats) and the top with a carnuba. Im just worried about what polly will bond with products like VM and RMG.

I just noticed something...interesting correllation between FK and Meg's equivalents..check out the first two numbers...

FK2180 compares to M21

FK2685 (PW) compares to M26

Makes me wonder if there's some family competition since both are run by a Meguiar..(Floyd started FK in the 60's)
