FK 425...hmm

I've had a chance to use 425 a couple of times now; once over Zaino and once over Souveran.

It seems to be a nice QD, but I'm not getting the "scream about it" results that others have raved about. The cleaning ability seems quite mild. The appearance is boosted but not dramatically. Slickness is nice, but I can think of slicker QDs.

I can think of a few QDs I would reach for before 425, but I'm going to use it more before I pass final judgement on it.

Zane, I couldn't agree with you more. I find it to be just mediocre, and in fact if slickness is the goal, UGE is so much nicer, IMO. I can't get 425 to wipe clean for me no matter what I try. I've tried it over carnauba and sealant and I just am not crazy about it.

I can list many others I prefer. I won't be buying more 425 when mine is gone.

I find Adam's Detail Spray to be just as slick, with much better cleaning ability, and comparable looks, plus it's very user friendly.

I also agree, I do not think that it is anything exceptional. I would take quickshine over it anyday. FWIW I still think that the best value on the market in turns of good product and price is Megs Final Touch.

I have a whole gallon of FK425 sitting in the garage. I doubt I will get into it this year.

If anyone wants it and a bottle of FK 2180 let me know, I would rather get some quickshine.

Tyler - Adam's DS was the first thing I thought of when receiving 425, but I think Adam's is slicker and has more appearance "pop."

Also a good shine and cleaner would be a 2:1 ratio of PBs S&G and S&W.

Not to start anything here but isnt there another version of Adams that is the same or similar?

Yep, plus Adam's is great as a clay lube, panel spritzer when drying, and even a waterless wash. It's a jack of all trades :woot:

I like 425 but I don't see it as the best QD. Over Nattys I looks nice, but so do most QD's. Over Zaino I prefer Z8. The cleaning ability of 425 is very light and it is great on exterior windows.
That I will agree with it does do a nice job on windows.

now you sell the 425! I have a new a gallon sitting in my closet.

425 is an excellent value in the 1 gallon size. There may be better products but for the price

it can't be beat. If so please post a link because I will buy it!

It looks better with time and more frequent applications. Makes an excellent lubricant for drying after a wash and great for claying. And in my experience its provided a great results over EVERYTHING i have tried: Pink Wax, P21s/S100, Acrylic Jett Trigger, KLasse AIO, EXP, FX100,

MOther's FX, FK 146. And the anti-static properites are not Bunk. I saw its dust repelling properties fist hand one windy afternoon. 425 is a must have if you use pure Carnauba toppers.

I doubt I would do all those things with a more expensive and lesser quantity OTC QD

or much more expensive mail order qd. If 425 were more expensive I would use others.

But I bet the differences are marginal in slickness and gloss to comprabable products.

425 is great if you a large car or many cars.

I like the Duragloss QD..Fast Clean and Shine..does a great job in cleaning ..but the best part is the Gloss....

here is a picture just taken about 10 minutes ago..just applied Duragloss Fast Clean and Shine..their QD..

Did not use AW ..just the QD....nice stuff...

cleans better than PB's..shines better also

I agree, 425 is good but I don't think it is great. I have a bottle of Duragloss' Fast and Clean (I think that is the name of it) QD waiting in the wings and someone described it as Poorboys SW on steroids. If that is the case, that will be my go to QD as it should provide the cleaning ability of a true QD and a little protectant/gloss booster along the way.

Actually, I keep my truck in the garage most of the time and seldom gets dirty. I retired 10 years ago and just don't drive much anymore. Basically, it is a garage queen. I use AIO/SG (and just tried AIO/Jett). So, if it gets a little dirty I go to Poorboys SW or, if a little dirtier, either QEW or 4 in 1. It almost never requires a hose wash. In fact, I don't really need a QD as I just top the lsp with either Wolfgang's Spritz or Menzerna's HGAS, and, just recently, I've been getting good results with Duragloss' AquaWax.

With all the good spray waxes and sealant boosters around these days, I don't think there is a place anymore for a true, dedicated QD. If there is pollen or smudges or bird bombs, the Poorboys SW is all you need. If it does not take care of the cleaning you need the QEW or bring out the hose and shampoo. After either one, these spray toppers are just the ticket. It might be an extra step now and then but I think the results achieved with a product like HGAS or even the cheaper Aquawax is worth it over most true QDs on the market.

Well Al, I see you beat me to it. I'm glad the Duragloss QD works well and I'm anxious to try it. Tell me, what is the big difference then between Aquawax and this QD?

Shorty...

The QD has cleaners...and maybe fortified with some AW..as they smell alike...

The AW has no cleaners....

quote from their site for fast Clean and Shine

Is formulated to remove dust and light soil from painted surfaces without scratching or removing durable polishes. Actually bonds with the polish for added gloss and durability.

they call sealants polish...

I will try the AW (if I can find it!) in my search for the best product on Silver (the ultimate test in my opinion, a hard color to blow you away on gloss).

But I'm getting more convinced that there is not spray gloss product on the market that has a recognizable difference to its competitors.

In other words if I did 10 car with Poorboys SW and one with Z8

or 10 casrs with AW and one with 425

you simply could not pick out the lone product on looks. They are all within 98% of each other on similarly prepared surfaces.

Now on the pockeboot that difference is indeed quantifiable.

Sent you a PM on this.......

Why is aquawax being compared to a qd? I thought that was an lsp-type product. It's either one or the other.

I really like 425. If enough people try any qd in particular, there will always be some that are disappointed. It works great for me. Compared to the seven or so others I've tried, I usually end up reaching for the 425.

Keeping on the topic of 425...

I'm not saying 425 is a bad QD, because I don't think it is. I'm just wondering about the rave reviews when it was discovered.
