First Try with Zaino Clear Seal Not Good

I'm kind of surprised no one asked this since the OP stated it was difficult to spread the product. Although the vehicle looks pretty good, the regimen stated did not include any paint cleaning or claying (other than a wash). Could that be why the product did not spread out thinly enough to dry without incident?

That was my first reaction/thought.

I thought about it for a second and concluded that since he applied 2 coats of Z5 and Z6 prior to CS, the surface would have been slick enough after these products even if it needed claying and paint cleansing.

I should of made my instructions more clear. :2thumbs:

OP your car looks great! :woot2:

no no no , thank you sir. :grinno:

This weekend, I plan to use ZPC, 2 layers of Z5pro (ZFXed), final layer of Z2 on saturday, and then ZCS+Z8 on sunday....man its gonna be fun.

I didn't have any problems with Z5/Z8, so I'm guessing ZCS won't have too much difference....just have to remind myself again that 1) a little goes a long way 2)thin, thin, thin :D

A couple questions so we can see what went wrong.

What was the current humidity?

Was the applicator brand new, never washed? Did the applicator get any water drips on it?

1 spritz per panel, worked in?

- As per how to get rid of the streaks, just a simple z6 and your good to go. Judging by how much product was used, my guess would be to much product was used, or potentially, the prior layer were not fully cured.

thanks again the car looks great after 3 washes too!! the only thing i could say is not to great .. is there is really no flake in the paint.. but that is all haha

I am suprised your not seeing flake. Your looking in the sun right? Usually its pretty loaded.

We did z5pro x 2, CS x1.

P.S. email me some pics of your car from the show if you have them.

I am glad it worked out great. That car is outstanding looking!

5 series are my favorite cars and one of the best driving cars also.

Excellent job! Holy crap that is deep and wet!

Getting the right amount of 'thin' is going to take a lot of us some time to get the hang of it with regard to CS. Trial and error a few times before it is perfected, IMO.

I applied CS last evening to my hood and trunk after S&W'ing it. Also had considerable streaking on the hood which I figured was either due to the hood being warm or applying too much product. Applied much thinner on the trunk and there was absolutely no streaking (ugh, wanted to apply more, but resisted the temptation).

After awhile I followed up the hood with some Z6 or Z8 (can't remember which) and it took care of the streaking prob. Did the same on the trunk and both glossed up real well.

You know I have to put my 2 cents into this... why is it that when someone uses a product for the first time and have even the slightest problem they have to immediately run to the internet to complain and get advice. Doesn't anyone ever simply pick up the phone anymore and call the manufacturer for advice? A simple call would have told you that you goofed and would have told you what to do to correct your mistake. Five pages of discussion and it has nothing to do with the product not performing properly at all! In fact, it seems to have performed flawlessly!

my .02 is that everyone shares their experience and opinions because that is what the forum is about. if no one posted this type of thing there would be only a handful of posts and make for a boring forum. not a bash on you, but i've seen other people say "use the search" way too much on here as well. if everyone uses just the search we would have no new threads. heck, just use google and bypass the forum altogether. :)

I'm glad to hear things worked out well for you.

The first hood shot looks wicked!

I tend to hit my trim & glass first until my pad is 'primed', then I move on to the paint. For me, this helps ensure a thin, even coat of CS on the paint.

I don't think he complained, he just wanted to know what went wrong/what he did wrong? No where did I see that he said "Zaino sucks" or "F this crap." I would have done the same, to see if anyone else experienced this before contacting them... Always multiple ways to look at things. Self-resolution never hurts.:heelclick
