First pots in the US: Swissvax Insignis

I don't see everyone ridicule people who use Swissvax in their Show 'n Shines saying they're idiots for using an expensive wax and how the car would have looked just as good using Turtle Wax, right?

Might want to look harder. ;) the snide comment do show up from time to time. They are just usually a bit better hidden at it in that section. But in all honesty I think jdora has it right. If the customer wants it and is willing to pay for it then that's all that matters. My initial comment was just to debunk some mis-information on the hype. This wax isn't any better than any other quality wax on the market today. It just isn't. But it has a good name behind it and that alone will usually help the sell on it and people will gladly pay for it. I mean it's not worse than other waxes either. So no harm by using it. Just no real advantage to using it outside of being able to sell the name behind it which can equal into some good extra dollars in the end.

Ok I have to step in here.... This is where all the hype v. actuality needs to come into play. This is a two parter. The first is I'd like to see concrete proof of this claim (should be an easy one) and 2nd does high nuba content mean better protection? Will the $1100 wax (CR) last longer and outperform the $20-$30 tub (DP's MAXWAX or Danase's Classic wax even) the realistic answer is no. Not even a little bit. In fact most of the time the higher priced waxes protect even less. (Umm supernatural anyone) Do they give more sheen or shine?? Well compared to some maybe... But have you seen the shine and sheen on wet diamond with polycharger? (yea it's a sealant I know) I bet it would blow this and CR out of the water. and that's still at just a fraction of the cost. these high end waxes are pure hype. they always have been they always will be. They don't out protect they don't outshine they don't do anything special. There's is no such thing as a "Luxory nuba made specifically for a ferrari's special needs paint" it's 100% pure marketing. And in the words of the great Todd Helme (and I can't beleive I'm quoting the guy but he's 100% spot on here) the LSP makes very little to no difference in the looks of a properly detailed and "jeweled" paint. So don't go broke over simple hyped up wax.

You need to stop holding back and tell us what you really think! ;)

LOL have you not ever followed my post? I'm kind of known for calling a spade a spade. Tons of people on here love to suger coat things. I find that to be highly annoying when trying to find real reveiws or real knowledge. I think I spoke fairly and didn't put out any misinformation. I'm sure if I did I will be corrected. Sorry if I'm not as "polite" as others on the matter. But I hate to see people get caught up in hype so much they actually start beleiving it's fact and toss out a lot of money on something that just isn't what they thought. In this case if you like the name and like the product by all mean stock up. That's not even the point. It was the whole "better nuba = more expensive product" comment that started my rant on the matter.

Hey, I wasn't complaining! :2thumbs:

so has anyone talked about the performance of this new wax? I just went through this thread and its 3.5 pages of bickering. It always happens with these types of products. WHO CARES! just talk about the wax.

Now, I love Zymol Concours becuase it sheets water like CRAZY. How does this wax compare, has anyone used both? Also how does it compare with application and removal? Thanks.

Never mind, I found my answers on another site where people didn't b***h at the prices.

Those video are nice SV looks just like my FK1000p. After a couple of washes you will notice a diff on ANY wax/sealant, just the way it goes!

Cheers,

GREG

I finally found some time today to try out my new pot of Swissvax Insignis. And what a pleasure it was! One of the first thinks you notice about this wax is (apart from the watermelon smell) is how oily and soft it is. Very much opposite of my Saphir, which is gritty in form and quite hard. I used one of Phil's excellent Uber red applicators, which seemed rather large at first, but worked perfectly.

As I said, the wax is quite soft, so all it took was a few dabs in the pot (no turns, no swipes) and you can really see against the red applicator how much/little you're putting on there. One of the things that really impressed me about this wax was how very very little you use. One dab would be good enough to do my entire bonnet. I think for my entire truck, I probably only dabs 6 times. Of course, application was a breeze, quite a bit easier than my Saphir and even easier than Souveran, which I didn't think was possible. Removal was stunning as well, which I did after about 10 minutes.

I will report back on durability and beading, which are my two most important factors. I shall let the looks speak for themselves.

All in all, very impressed. It's not a cheap wax, but with how little you use of it, I can see this lasting someone for a very long time.

Disclaimer: pictures are straight out of the camera, I only resized them and added a black border.

It's been 33 days now since I have touched the truck since I applied my first layer of Insignis. During that time, it was parked outside in Ft. Worth for 10 days covered in a few inches of snow. When I came back from my holiday, both of my batteries were drained to a point where the truck wouldn't start.

So, after 33 days of some very non-Texas weather, and it not being washed. here are some pictures demonstrating how the wax is holding up...

The carnuba content is higher in these type of Luxury Waxes thus = you pay more.

Unlikely! Carnauba is cheap cheap. Adding the best grade carnauba in higher concentrations will add a few cents to a tub. The rest is marketing so don't buy into it.

But it's all hype. You could put Meg's 26 on a car and tell them its Swiss and they wouldn't know the difference. 99% of you wouldn't be able to tell either.

Well said. Nice reality check.

I was afraid of the usual "expensive wax" bashing. To each his own. When you buy Swissvax, you pay for the name, you pay for the expensive ingredients, you pay for a fantastic product.

You basically pay for the name...useful to up-sell to your customers if you wish.

So its a soft wax? Does it attract any more dust than the usual suspects?

High carnauba waxes are excellent winter waxes. The cold reduces evaporation of oils and the precipitation swells the carnauba molecules making it bead nicely.

Got mine today and I´m very happy to have it here. Now I´m one of the handful people in world who owns this special swissvax. Hope to try it out in a few weeks when the winter has gone.

In for results!

Whoever informed us of the price shouldn't have, because I'm silly enough to buy a can of it. In fact, I'm going to buy a Surefire flashlight and a Strider knife right now, too! Sorry, I'm just a sucker for something that is high-priced (it must be better, right?) and nicely-packaged. Oh, and a personal signature of appreciation or authenticity adds at least $100 to the value of the package  You definitely don't get pieces of paper with signatures with BFWD!

Ok...I go nuts spending crazy money looking for the best flashlights, but I stop at the cost of my DoDo Juice Double Wax, which was decently priced. Anyway, on a side note, Michael, if you want some good flashlights to look at, which I recently purchased; check out the Fenix TK40, as well as a more compact light, the LED T7 Lenser. Both awesome flashlights, and both I use on a regular basis and have had no issues with either, yet.

Hey, that thing got a Hemi?

hell no, thats a CUMMINS.

speaking of "hype" and "name recognition" Dodged played out the name "hemi" very well...

NONE of these new motors have a hemispherical combustion chamber like the "REAL HEMI" did...they just slapped the name on a Magnum V8.
