Just got back from meeting Leda, SUPER nice lady. Picked up my stuff and talked for a bit. I asked about future orders and it looks to be no problem, they are working on getting a new distrubution set up.

I took some photos of the plant, and will post them.

Cheers,

GREG

Just wanted to let everyone know that I received a follow up email from Leda (yesterday morning) and she said that they'll be making some FX-100 and should have it by the end of the month.

Bad news for those that are awaiting FX-100. I just got off of the phone with Leda about an hour ago and she said that they won't be producing anymore after all. If I remember correctly she stated that one of the primary chemicals is either no longer available or is really hard to find and expensive. I'm sorry that I can't remember for sure what it was she said, I've got a lot of stuff going on at the moment. Anywho, the bottom line is that they won't be able to produce anymore of it. She also sends her apology to those whom she said they would be able to order it. I asked her if she knew if they were going to come up with a new product to replace it, but she didn't. I was bummed to hear this news because after hearing about it, I was looking forward to trying it.

In talking with Leda, she suggested that I use 425 because it did the same thing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 425 a QD or glaze and not a sealant?

Also, has anyone used their cutting compounds or polishes and how did they perform?

Again, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I've been trying to contact Leda via email (those addresses listed in this thread) but no reply. Does she usually answer email inquiries ? TIA

When I spoke with her yesterday she said that she is swammped with emails and orders from Autopians. Just to let you know, it might be about a week or maybe even a little more before you hear anything back from her. The poor woman is completely overloaded with work at the moment.

About the FX-100, I thought someone said it was a fluoropolymer product (although I can't find that now, maybe I am thinking of OID), so maybe the reason it's gone from the FK lineup and not coming back is because it has this in it: Perfluorooctanoic acid - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . Although the US gov't has not acted, some US mfrs. are removing it from their products/processes because of concerns or regulations in the EU.

OID has fluoropolymer in it, I hope they dont get rid of OID or change it. OID is my go to QD!

I doubt Dr. G would use that in a new product. Some of these perfluorinated chemicals have been recognized as bioaccumulative for a long time, like the PFOS that used to be in Scotchgard and was taken out in 2000. Apparently 3M began to phase out PFOA at the same time.

Dr G.

Thank you for bringing up this question. While some products have additives that may provide some antistatic properties, the flouropolymers we use to make Optimum Instant Detailer are inherently antistatic. So basically, as long as the polymers are on the surface, they will repel dust and dirt, as well as protecting from the elements.

Fluoropolymers have the lowest surface tension of any product (10-15 dynes/cm2) and therefore they repel anything and everything except other fluororpolymers. The only drawback is that these polymers do not bond to paint and last for just a couple of weeks.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thanks again.

David G.,

So do not know if this would fall into the category, or if he will be changing the formula if needed to sell in the EU.

As I suggested, Dr. G seems to be a pretty smart guy. The handwriting has been on the wall for a long time (since 2000, at least), and since OID was released fairly recently (within the last couple of years) I doubt he would have formulated it with a fluoropolymer that has been under scrutiny for many years.
