I think that the physical protection is good with 1000P; I rate it similarly good as 476 (maybe a tad lower), but I never observed the sealants (2180, 218) alone, dunno why.

Bence said:The term *dull* is a bit confusing. Imagine it looking like a handsome wax after application, but it improves the look in the next 2-3 days significantly. It gains focus, definition. It will go extremely sharp.
Bence said:I'd rather top 1000P with OOS.
Rob Tomlin said:Thanks guys.
That's all I need to hear. I will try 1000P.
Would you recommend using something like Opti-Seal as a base under the 1000P?
I was thinking of this work flow: Clay, SIP, Opti-Seal (x2 or 3), 1000P.
Bence said:Rob, there is no scientific explanation to that. I just feel that 1000P is a more substantial base.
But sandwiching the 1000P between OOS layers is also an interesting approach. Experiment, experiment.

It's enough to make me long to place an FK order. But I have so much stuff (Ultima, Zaino) that it makes no sense.
Sherri Zann said:Hey, Rob, good point!
The only thing I haven't been satisfied with the Zaino about is that I am still getting rain spotting. I think our rain here in NC is pretty acid from all the coal-fired elec generation.
I loved Bence's demo of how well the FK1000P repelled Hungarian dirt. And I know some folks think Collinite 476 provides better environmental protection than sealants.
Anyone have experience with Zaino and FK1000P to offer an opinion on protection from acid rain?

bcwang said:Did you ever get around to doing the sealant test and posting it? I couldn't find anything from you related to a big sealant test.
SuperBee364 said:Yeah, I did do the comparisons, but I got lazy and never posted any pictures or results. Well, it was a combination of laziness and a hectic work schedule last summer. Well, that and the fact that Zaino didn't fare well, and I didn't want to risk yet another Zaino flame fest.![]()
