Finally tried Z-8 Grand Finale Spray Seal today..

I wonder how a product that can feel so slick attract dust for some folks? I have never experienced that issue with Z8.

That would be disappointing. The Z6 certainly does not attract dust.

No product "repels" dust.

Absolutely correct.

The most you can hope for is getting a product that reduces the static charge in the towel and paint surfaces. In fact, FK1 has an entire page dedicated to this issue and it is a big part of their marketing. 425 most definitely does NOT attract dust!

Haven't had a problem with dust, but use cotton towels as recommended by Sal. Wonder if the MF's produce a greater static charge. Would some of y'all who use MF's try Z-8 with a cotton towel and see if it makes a difference?

I can't believe Sal is still recommending the use of cotton towels after all these years!

I doubt there would be any difference in static between cotton and MF towels. Actually, if anything, I would think cotton may have MORE of a static charge.

Z8 is the best detailing product I've ever used in every way.

It does seem to attract dust though. I use microfibers, and I've tried several different drying methods after washing. I never use a fabric sheet either, but nothing seems to help with the dust attraction.

I don't think I can do without Z8 ever again though. I absolutely love it.

It would be interesting to actually "count the camel's teeth" rather than a discussion of opinions. I'm getting ready to apply Z-8 to at least 2 cars over the next few days. I'll try one car (black) with a fresh brand new cotton towels fresh from the store and still in their packaging) and then one car (red) with a brand new (not out of the package yet) MF. These cars have or will have been "Zaino'd with Z-2 and Z-5, both with ZFX and then Z-CS'd. and the next day will be Z-8'd. Our humidity should be low and the air crisp; ideal for generating and spreading static around. BTW, Sal is indeed still recommending 100% USA cotton towels; old King Cotton still rules!!!.

I'll report back here in a few days.

No dust issues for me. I might try it over Ulitma PGP soon. I love the initial look of PGP, I wonder if Z8 will add to it.

Steve

I'm curious as to how it'll turn out. I have plenty of z8 left.

I've been reading the UK detailing forum and those Wax junkies are now using Z8 over Vintage.

You'd think that since they spent so much on a zymol wax they would spend the extra to keep it up with zymol field glaze.

I'm not sure what the physics is, but synthetic fibers definitely create more of a static charge than cotton.

Well, Sal is not really as much of a genius as most people here ( sometimes I think this is zainopia) think he is. have you ever seen the 100x magnification pictures of black paint wiped with 100% cotton vs mf? The cotton side has many micro scratches, too small to even show up as swirls rather they are so tiny and so numerous that they simply diffuse the light and make the surface less reflective, glossy, etc...

FWIW, instead of Z8, I have been using DG Aquawax. I think it looks just as good if not better at a fraction of the cost:secret

Side by side, I can't tell a difference. Z8 smells better though. ;)

I was just about to ask that question, thanks for answering it for me Scott! I personally always like to do a final wipe-down after waxing with AW.

I use a dft towel with z8 and never notice dust.

I went almost 6 months with aio topped with just weekly z8 spritzes lol, ya , love the stuff.

Sal does recommend 1 MF in which he has quality tested - DF Towels.

Unlike members here that realize there is a wide-range of MF quality, a non-detailing forum purchaser of MF's may not be so informed.

Note Zaino only recommends 100% USA cotton. Not just "cotton" towels. Cotton towels too vary greatly in quality.

I don't know if Z-8 is my favorite, but I have do agree that it's one of the slickest Zaino products.

I use Z-8 straight-up with no streaking, and my car is pretty much dust free.

I stopped using Z8 because I found that it attracts dust like crazy. Anyone else experience this?

Have not noticed that at all.

I put both products in Meguires Quick Detailer bottles long ago. Meguires nozzles spray much finer than the Zaino and don't leak all over your hand. I love Zaino but their spray bottles leave much to be desired. Yes, you can use Z-8 over carnauba. I use it over Souveran and CMW all the time.

Agreed... never thought of doing that :) I'll have to give that a shot.
