Favorite MF towels

Aren't the Ultra Plush for QD? I rarely QD since I wash often and use Lucus speed wax when towel drying my cars with a waffle weave towel. I wash a minimum of once per week.

What's the best for wax/sealant removal? What are those hard working towels that cut through the wax/sealant? I have several of the short nap towels but they seem to smear the WOWO waxes. A final wipe or two is always needed on my black cars.

What towel (the plush one?) is best for the final wipe after waxing?

I have glass cleaning perfected. Now I love doing glass.

These towels are great for removing waxes/sealants:

Just received my first shipment of Eurow Double Density towels, they look really nice. Looks like they are best used for quick detailing and drying.

Also received some Smartwax Elite Deluxe Ultra Plush Microfibers, they look like they would be good for quick detailing on one side and removing polish/wax on the other side.

I personally wouldn't use either for windows, I like a short pile towel for those.

All-in-all, both look like great towels to have in the arsenal.

The Dragon Fiber Perfect Shine that's sold here resembles the pakshak towel for removing wax/sealant and buffing.

The disadvantage is: Ordering a similar towel from pakshak and paying for shipping and yielding the same results.

I think we're drifting away from the intention of the OP.

Towels used for specific purposes, not a favorite vendor. :)

Thanks UN.
That was a very insightful thread, and was just what I was looking for.
Isn't Porscheguy Dasher? If so, what happened to him. I haven't seen him around here in a looooooong time.

Yup, that's him.

He's been around sporadically. I see him poke his head in and out once in a while.

1. Wax/Polish removal: Purple MF from AutoGeek
2. Drying: Green Guzzler from AG
3. Buffing: Gray from AG
4. QD: Purple
5. Glass: usually the green guzzler
6. Interior: Mango from AG
7. All Purpose: Blue from AG
8. Rims: Green

This is a question I've been wondering lately as well. Just wanted to bring it to the forefront and see if anyone else had anything to add. What TYPES of MF towels do you prefer for differing tasks? Barry, did you restock, and if so, which way did you go? I'm looking to build up my towel reserve and would like to see what people think again.

Chris is alive and kicking. He is still a full time student and works weekends at Sears plus detailing in his SPARE time LOL. Saw him Monday up here in Indy and he says he frequents the TID chat room. Sorry didn't mean to hi-jack the thread.

I did get a bunch of Eurow Shag Towels, and I must say that they are as great as everyone says. They are very soft and plush. It is the only MF that I have used that doesn't leave streaks while using a QD on black. I use them for polish and wax removal, QD, buffing, IPA wipe downs, etc. The only things that I don't use them for are glass and drying.

1. Wax/Polish removal - mostly low nap including meg supreme shines

2. Drying - use several types: Mothers foam core, Viking towels, some waffle weaves from PAC and Pakshak.

3. Buffing - tend to the same as 1

4. QD - the thicker towels with more nap (Uber, Pak Shak, Cobra, Viking)

5. Glass -use mf applicator plus either low nap towel or waffle weave

6. Interior - dedicated some vroom orange

7. All Purpose - whatever is not good enough for the above...old, stained, etc. I use vroom gray towels for jambs, etc

Although I segregate the usage, I do wash them together.

I think we solved the orange peel problem...

Back on topic...

Looking back on that microfiber thread, things haven't really changed. I still use only three microfibers: Ultimate Wipes, Eurow Shag, and some generic blue microfibers. If the job involves any polishing, Ultimate Wipes are pretty hard to beat. The Eurow microfibers are definately my favorite for any sort of spray detailer or ONR wash. For interior work and just general maintenance, the generic microfibers will work just fine.

I'm not hearing super praise of the PAC towels, I hope I made the right decision when I ordered like 16 of those suckers!

Call me biased (because I am!!!!) but I think you made a great decision.

Dragon Fiber towels, which is PAC's house brand, is one of the oldest (if not the oldest) Microfiber companies to sell towels for automotive use. But here is the thing...

Microfiber is not domestically manufactured (to my knowledge); PAC doesn't make any of the towels that we sell. Instead the two big players in the microfiber industry are China and Korea, and there tends to be noteworthy difference in the quality of the towels, particularly when it comes to the long term durability of the towels.

All of the Dragon Fiber Brand towels are manufactured in Korea which helps ensure that they are the highest quality possible. We have been working with new suppliers to develop a new, hybrid towel, in which the material is made in Korea, but stitched in China, to keep prices down, making them an affordable upgrade to the common (China) store bought microfibers. These are my personal favorite towels for polish removal (the short nap) and quite cheap, and still feel new after 5-6 washes. http://properautocare.com/ba.html

Jack is dedicated to continually improving our product lines and we would love (and need!) your input on our towel line so we can add more wanted additions, make changes, etc.

We truly believe we offer the highest quality towels (not saying there are not equals, just not 'betters'), particularly in terms of durability, but we are always trying move forward.

Todd
