EXorEX-P

I'm with mtodde, I don't like SG all that much. First of all, you have to apply at *least* three coats of SG before it really starts to look good and if something takes that much effort to look good, it's not for me. Aside from the fact that it's a total PITA to get off!

My favorite, prior to using EX, was 1Z Glanz Wax, which is a lot like SG except easy to remove and looks great after one pass, but it was just missing something that I could never quite put my finger on. Now that I've used EX, I think I have found my new favorite. If you happen to apply EX or EX-P too thick, don't worry, it comes off very easy. The only thing that will happen is you will end up with a little white residue a couple days later which comes off when you wash it. I just recently learned that by applying it with a finishing pad and PC, it goes on nice, smooth, and thin....perfect. I applied it, and then finished off the detail while letting it dry on the car at least 30-45 minutes and then came back and wiped off the excess which was extremely easy.

I have a black car... I wanted one sealant that I can top with Souveran, EX made the most sense. I hoped the carnauba in the EX would make it the most compatible with PS among the wide choice of sealents.

You can top pretty much top any sealant with a carnauba like PS. In respect to EX and EX-P, they can both be topped with PS and will look the same after doing so. They only look different if left on by themselves (not topped).

You don't think there is any difference in the bonding process with a carnauba topper between EX and EX-P? I understand it may not be very noticable but I thought there was some logic to PS bonding better to a sealant already containing carnauba.

I'm thrilled with AIO + EX + PS regardless... :D

Nope, no bonding issues. At least nobody has ever mentioned any and there are a lot of people that top their EX-P with carnauba on a regular basis. You have to keep in mind, the order of which these products were made. EX was first and people were asking for something without carnauba so they could top it with another sealant and/or get a more clear look out of it for metallics and lighter colors. All they did was remove the carnauba and call it EX-P (Pure).

Basically what mtodde said. No Zaino experience but some with SG. I've never had any real problems using SG applying and removing it via the Bill North way but I don't really like the silvery sheen I could see on black when looking down the side of the vehicle.

EX-P is a piece of cake to use. Apply, wait, remove. No matter if it is too thick (other than some dusting issues), after 30 minutes, it wipes off as if you were dusting the car. Similarly clear to SG but noticably wetter looking. It isn't as durable as SG and doesn't stay slick as long.

No one has reported any problems with topping either EX or EX-P ...I think there will be a slight difference in looks as the EX will be darker and warmer. Then again it depends on the topper too. Looks are tooo subjective to discuss on-line ...if two people have the same car and color and then do the same process except different toppers, then you could really see a difference...in pictures and on different paints from different mfg's there's no real way to tell.

Scott,

It would be great if you would try out Zaino ... I'm very curious to see what you would have to say about it - especially since it's probably the only really good product that's discussed here that you've never tried.

If you would like, I could send you some Z1, Z2, Z5 (not sure how much I have left) and Z6 (if you cover shipping).

JDookie,

You are right , I just applied the Third coat of SG this past weekend and it does look noticeably better than the previouse. Although I have no problems with SG application or removal I feel it's missing a little something. The sheen it leaves isn;t as clear or wet like I want it to be.

I think I'll give EX-P a shot, I'm looking forward to using it.

ZaneO is sending me some to try, thank-you though.

I'm not dawn washing though. Probably going to use it over AIO...which means I need to order some more. ;)
