Hi:

I think I now have everything to begin work on my car. I was only wondering what you guys think my paint needs or more acurately if what i have will work. I know there are some great pruducts around but it's hard for me to get most of them.

Here is a list of the thing I've been able to gather in the past six months (yes this long, my PC took two months to get and the pads and P21S about 4 months!!!!). In parenthesis is what I plan to do with each product:

1-3M claybar ( paint prep)

2-3M FI-II fine compound (polishing)

3-3M SMR for dark colors (removing and hiding more swirls)

4-3M IHG (hiding more swirls and giving more shine)

5-P21S (wax, protection)

Aplication of steps 1 through 4 via PC and foam pads.

I got Yellow, Orange, White and Black pads.

I'm afraid I am trying to do too many steps and making it worse.

Should I cut steps?

What do you think about the product selection?

Any tips on matching product and pads?

And PC speeds?

Here is a close up of the actual state of the paint on my car so you can judge better.

Thanks

Ricardo

Sounds good, and should look good when done, just keep in mind you probably won't actually be erasing all of the swirls with those products and a PC, I used all except the clay in the past, had to to ditch the glaze once I went sealant and the FI II just didn't cut it for me even with a wool pad :(

Yep,I tried these products on my black car at the time, now on my current black car I use a variety of products , right now the only thing I have from 3m is PI III MG. I mainly use the 1z although I would look into the 3m line of products sold in auto body and paint supply stores. To quote Geekysteve, a black car truly is a detailer's "final exam". Good luck :xyxthumbs

Thanks BillD. Unfortunately This is what I can get locally and some thing I managed to get shipped from the US. I think I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.
