Emblems? Waxing

When waxing what do you do when you come to car emblems? detail around it and use a detailing brush in the logo?

I don't use brushes as even my softest BHBs will mar paint if used dry. I use either very plush MFs or cotton/foam swabs.



I try to be a little careful about letting abrasive polishes contact emblems; the trunklid badges (and some other pieces) on the Jag have their chrome all worn away from years of polishing when I didn't mask them off.

Okay thanks! I guess q-tips are the same as the cotton swabs haha whats the best way of getting rid of old wax in the emblems?

Use a paint cleaner.

Yeah, a paint cleaner like Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion, Meg's Deep Crystal Step #1, or Klasse AIO oughta work well. Then just be careful how you apply was in the future so you don't have the excess to clean away.

Dustn, there's a bunch of ways to remove polish/wax from around emblems, etc.. I think there was a thread recently about this, and it had a bunch of good techniques.. let me see if I can find it....

You can use a very plush MF and both spray and stream of a good QD

Great idea, how much does a good steam cleaner cost?

Depends on what your definition of good is. SOme use ones that are little as $100, but I think the general consensus around here is somewhere in the 500-700 range. You can spend more, of course, but those units have most of the features you would ever need.
