Disappointing products

Poorboys Natural Look Dressing – on one vehicle the Perspex instrument screen permanently clouds when it comes into contact with Natural Look but not with 303 or similair. I know I shouldn’t use PB Natural on screen however when cleaning around the area it can be hard to avoid.

Meg's Clay Bar System - Very weak clay bar when compare to what I am using now - Riccardo

Meg's Leather Cleaner and Condition - Very very greasy

Meg's NXT 2.0 - Just don't like it at all

DG 105 and DG AW. Durability was horrible in my experience. I can only see this combo lasting a while with frequent applications of AW.

Also Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion. I dislike products that are difficult to apply and use - this one one of them.

I am suprised....DG AW is my go to after every wash..........

Eh, so it says. Same thing applies. We'll just change DG Aquawax to one of the Meguiars QD "Wax" products.

And even with the DG, it's got so little sealant in it I wouldn't expect any reasonable longevity.

:nervous:

I have had really good results with DG AW.....but it goes to show you different results on cars, paint, climate, etc.

Same here as i love that stuff....you must not be using it for the right job its designed for.Thats poli-seal since this site's new system is f'ed up for posting.

I finally decided to register to chime in on some of the responses...

CG Stripper Scent, lasted one day, was expecting it to smell like "top shelf" strippers, not washed up street hookers.

CG Speed Wipe, had streaking issues on the two cars I tried it on.

XMT360, didn't notice any correcting, not sure about the sealant durability.

Also, I didn't notice much cleaning action on Meg's Cleaner and conditioner. I'm guessing most 2 in 1 leather cleaner and conditioners aren't as good as the individual step products tho.

I do like Mothers Showtime detailer unlike some others however. Love the smell and I haven't noticed any streaking issues.

I just ordered ONR, but imagine it's similar to DP rinseless. I can't imagine anyone not liking this product as I think it's the most versatile product on the market and works great.

To all of those that find themselves dissapointed with Megs 105 , Ultimate Protectant , Ultimate Wipes , ONR and purple foam wool pads. Please feel free to send them my way. I guess different strokes for different folks.

You guys must try Optimum Car Wax! Awesome stuff! DG AW is confined to the back of the shelf.......

there is plenty that i have been a little dissapointed with, but i just wanted to mention that last touch is a little streaky straight, but i really like it cut with a little water, as the person who mentioned it said. As for UQD, I like m135 much better although it is supposed to be the same . it is much slicker and seems to offer some good protection.

collinite : i like collinite 476s and Marque d' elegance, but insulator wax didn't seen all that durable to me.

optimum : i like ocw over aw all day, (because of looks), poliseal is great, but get streaking on occasion with OID and water spotting with os-

menzerna : huge fan of the polishes and the look of FMJ... but durability didn't live up to the menzerna name

Chemical Guys : i like factory seal, m seal, and their pink detailer, but the synthetic detailer is too hard to use

duragloss: 111, the 521 and fast clean and shine are great, but i didn't care for the looks of aw or 105.

poorboys: i like the waxes and sealants, but pro polish was way too aggressive (although i read once one of the batches was made that way in error)

blackfire: i bought wet diamond when it first came out pre-polycharged, which has got me torn as to whether to order the newer version. the durability and looks were just OK, although the slickness was great

rejex: imo, works like most older sealants, and lacks in the looks department

may add to this later...

Sorry, can't resist. i can understand one's familiarity with the scent of the former, but how does a "washed up street hooker" smell? Are the sample bases large enough to make a valid comparison?

Well, in no particular order - got my beer goggles on!

LC CCS pads - gimme flat pads

wool pads - no longer needed since I joined the church of the KBM

FK - the whole line even the vaulted 425 and 1000P

DG Fast Clean & Shine, watered down AW IMHO and I like AW

EO All wheel & tire cleaner

Megs 151, all single digit products (#3,5 etc) and Detailers line leather cleaner/conditioner

Lexol

DG 111 and 105, 601

Everything wolfgang or pinnacle (same sh1t different label)

Any Malco product

Any Majestic Solutions polish, glaze or wax - they got great APC's and QD's though

that's it for now

Ha! Busted. Unfortunately, I've smelled strippers that either don't belong on stage, or should've retired 10+ yrs ago. So I took that smell from the best that I can remember, and just implied it being even worse (heinous hooker).

Perfect Shine buffing cloths (16" x 16") from Classic Motoring get my vote for most disappointing product. Those effing things have linted badly from about the second use onwards.

Well fellas, it's like this, I'm feeling old and hateful- not happy to try to work out the nuances of finicky products (forgot zaino), I want it to work, fast, consistant, hot or cold, dry or humid, in bad moods or crappy cars. It doesn't mean someone with more time, patience, and love can't get great results from them - just didn't do it for me.

JB- trying to simplify a complicated world!

JuneBug- Heh heh, well I'm all in favor of using stuff that works (for *you*) quickly, easily, and with minimal [messing] around :xyxthumbs Hey, not like we all have to like the same stuff... some of your also-rans came in handy for me, like those Edge pads you sold me!

I found Danase Wet Glaze (1.0) to be very disappointing on my Blue/Grey 740, and my mom's X5, either by itself or layered under 1000p.
