Did you guys see Autopia was sold?

I find people's reactions to the sale of Autopia pretty humorous. Considering it was sold back in May and no one ever knew about it until today the changes on the forum have been pretty insignificant. If nobody said anything then nobody would have know and things would have gone on as they have.

I think you will find via my post history on DC that the last thing I do is lurk on this forum and take shots at it's members. However, your loss of respect for me means nothing to me.

Yep that 2.5 post per month you have racked up over the last 6 years shows your a real player here at DC. Thanks for all the help and advice Pat!:huh:

You don't care for the way some here at DC are talking about Autopia, then leave, all you are now is a attention ho, nothing more and nothing less:D
 
come on people let's not get into a pissing match here :rolleyes:

personal attacks are not permitted in the rules :inspector: and debating or causing drama about who owns a site or how it is run serves no purpose at all :wall

Detailing sites are , or should be about people who all have a common interest in making their vehicles and their clients vehicles look great :bigups

I have know almost all the parties involved in this thread for a long time and there are no bad people among us. I was sad to see Eric leave, but as Angelo (zoomzoom) told me, he's busy and happy and that is all that matters for him. Pat, Anthony, and Eric are all good people, as I have had a chance to spend time with all of them in person.

People come and go from all sites until they find a place where they find a comfort zone. If DC is your place then be happy Troy is such a good person to allow us to post freely here. If you are happy on Autopia, AG, TID, or any other site or all of them, then that's great too :rockon

It's apparent there are some hard feelings out there. You guys want to take shots at each other and I can understand I guess, but I will have to step in at some point because it is against our rules. I'm trying not to delete (censor) posts though so please don't make it so I have to.

You guys are funny!!! How about we (DC) try not to run people off. Well maybe make an exception to the 3 that have been banned since May, who were all the same poster. Just cant remember the guys name right now, But he was trying to get in 500 posts or more in 30 days. Steve will know who Im thinking of.

Here is my opinion of AUTOPIA. To many new members flowing through and older experienced members telling them to use the search button. There ia also a lot of talk there about products I dont use or havnt heard of. When I did post Id not get answer for several days do to me not having many posts over there and them thinking I was a SCAM. NO SCAM here! Couldnt try to scam if I wanted to. I like it here at DC the best of several detailing sites I have visited. The Autopia and Autogeek are just to big for my dialup connection to handle at times. Hope that made since. RANDAL here and LADNAR there

OK Troy I have no issue with Pat, don't really even know him. But his 185 posts over the last 6 years hardly gives me a warm and fuzzy that he knows what going on here. I can see that he very defensive about Autopia but coming on here to defend them, is just the wrong place.

Out of respect I will back off posting to Pat for the sake of the quality of the site and its members.

That was Gordon - The Flash, Flash Gordon. He is (or was) still active over at Detail Bliss or some place. He was still going strong with his smilie usage if I recall. :D
 
I started this thread as a welcome mat for any guys wanting a change or break from Autopia. I certainly didn't want it to go in this direction.

David-- You struck a nerve with me about the whole censoring issue and I'm sorry if I got a little defensive.

Anthony-- Please don't look at this as an opportunity to be negative about Autopia and it's members.

Beemerboy-- Stay out of it.

Pats300ZX-- We appreciate you as a member here regardless of post count. Please don't let these two discourage you from being a part of things at DC.

Thanks for the kind words Troy. I have been a member of this community since 2005 and am here everyday. Just cause I only have 185 posts doesn't mean that I don't know what is going on at DC.

I have personally met Troy and Steve and they know the type of person that I am. I have never come on this forum or any forum for that matter and raved about how great Autopia was and how terrible everyplace else was. Each detailing forum is different and is why I like spending time on each one.

My reason for posting about Autopia is only to ask that people not jump to conclusions or make suppositions about the forum. It is going through a change and the new owners have changed forum rules regarding several things. I only ask that you give the forum a chance and see what happens.

If it is not to your liking there are several other detailing forums out there. I participate on all of them. If I find Autopia not to my liking I will just start spending more time here or somewhere else...No biggie.. :love:
 
Troy, I think that some of us took the OP in the spirit I think you intended (certainly not a contentious one). When something such as the sale of Autopia takes place, it is IMO a newsworthy event and will be noted amongst other communities (and it has). Autopia has been around even before it's current version and to my knowledge it has had DavidB at the helm since its inception. DavidB is a polarizing figure no doubt. Some like him, some don't but there are few that are in between. Those that don't like him are usually the most vocal. That is the way things go, or so it seems these days. People seem quicker to condemn than to praise.

I have commended you even handedness in directing DC before and I still find that true today. I don't think you were defensive (overly or otherwise) in your response to an unwarranted/undeserved/untrue accusation.

IMO, DC is a welcoming and comfortable community for anyone who wishes to come in and participate. As a community we discuss a wide range of topics so there are lots of opportunity for participation. As a fairly large community we don't always agree, but the environment is open enough to allow for most disagreements. This seems about right for me. If it isn't right, I don't see that as a problem either. I think we as a community want you here, but not if you don't want to be. If you want to come here and deride, denigrate or otherwise cast unwarranted aspersions then don't be surprised to have the Welcome mat jerked out from underneath you by some of the membership. If on the other hand you feel you have been mistreated I believe that there is a remedy for that as well.

The only change that I am aware that they made (via an admin post) seems to be for the better. :bigups

There's a handful of people that if they got rid of it would make it a more hospitable place too - then again, that's just my opinion. I'm sure we have our internet bullies and smart-alecs (ahem) here too.

After doing a full detail on my Explorer I had to drive it to the doctor today and got a few splashes on it.

When I got home I used a PB S&W mixed with PB S&G and it worked great and was fast and easy.:bigups

Anyone want to talk about that. :D
