Detailing meet for Ohio / KY Autopia members

My own thought is to have a black car with swirled, oxidized paint, dirty interior and engine.

I'm not sure if you have one in mind, but I could probably get my father in law's black '98 Prelude which would be perfect. It has every fault you mentioned (except the oxidation)--very bad swirls, some chips, water spots, filthy interior and an engine bay that's never been cleaned (bad but not ridiculous). I've been planning to get to it, but I'll put off my own major effort if we're in need of a demonstration vehicle. Let me know.

I am still not sure which weekend I will be coming up, it all depends on coordinating it with my ex-wife but it will be towards the end of July.

Haven't heard anything from Scott but did read into one of his posts and it sounds like his older son has already returned to KY and only his younger son is in TX. I would assume that this means that older son flew back to KY and that possibly younger son might do so as well. With nothing firm from Scott I have only done minimal preparation so I'm going to say that the meet is not going to happen. Perhaps we can put something together for next spring.

Okay,

How about a friendly get together in the Louisville/Lexington area if someone wants to "host" it? It could be something more along the lines of a cook-out where everyone contributes food and drinks, bring along favorite detail supplies, and we simply share techniques and ideas. We demonstrate on our own cars if we choose. It could still be a learning experience. Just a thought :nixweiss

I will be driving my son back (note the post I made on June 27th in this thread) but it will most likely be next weekend (the 23rd through the 25th). One day there, one day to drive back and one day I need to spend at least partly with my boys. I am sure I can be available for at least 3-5 hours that Saturday though. I am going to try to hold off for the last weekend in July, but school starts August 5th and my son wants to get back more than just a few days before school opens.

Man! Alot of people from that area. I wish I was closer I would be there. If you guys are up by me let me know.

Any of you guys from Ashtabula, Ohio or near? That's located in the NorthEastern part of Ohio, right at the corner. 40mins from Erie PA and 50 mins to Cleveland.

As of right now, I will be leaving for Kentucky on Saturday (the 24th?) and should get there that night. I will be there the whole day on Sunday and head home on Monday.

I'm definately interested in this. My brother lives down in Cincy and I could bum off his couch on saturday night and meet up with you guys. Let me know if anything is going on.

My friend has some property in Austinburg in Ashtabula county. I'm about an hour away from you towards CLE.

I will be leaving for Kentucky early on Saturday, so baring any unforeseen problems, I will be in Dry Ridge that evening. I'll be going to church with my kids on Sunday morning, but after that, I should have no problems spending the afternoon with fellow Autopians.

Hey guys. First post here on this board, but I've been lurking in the shadows for awhile now. Would you throw rocks at me if I showed up in a black Crew Cab Super Duty Diesel Truck? I enjoy detailing her, but cars just don't get er done for me, I'm a truck man!

Lawdog-sure, you can show up, but don't expect me to hop right into detailing a truck the size of yours....I'm on vacation!

I can do those trucks in my sleep though, I detail a ton of them, they seem to be the official car of Texas.

Dern it, I was hoping for a response like "Hey, that ones big enough we can do it while ALOT of people watch"

I really don't mind doing the Super Duty, but the Sequoia (also black) kills me.
