Detailed my car

Limited-Liberty

Well this past weekend I had the time do to an exterior detail on my car. I started out Friday night with a wash and clay and then wipe down with S&W. I parked the car in the garage until the morning. I got up Saturday morning and the work started. I first started out with SSR1 on a LC polishing pad to see how that worked on the swirls and scratches that were on the hood. It worked to some degree but I wanted be able to get rid of them faster and a lot more of them so I went to the next step and tried SSR2.5 with a LC polishing pad. It helped out a lot but was not removing them all after 2 tries. So I went to a LC yellow cutting pad. (I have a orange LC pad and tried that first but the backing plate was cutting into it and dusting all over) Now it worked and I was happier with the results. After that I went to SSR1 with a LC polishing pad and it looked good. My LSP was EX-P and this weekend I plan on topping that with Collinite #845 for winter protection. Well I took me about 6 hrs to do the job using the listed steps applied to the whole car. It turned out nice but I was disappointed that I seen acid rain etching on the horizontal surfaces. Plus it seemed to me that there are still some fine scratches on the surface that I think I may nave caused by claying and was mad. I after pics so tell me what you think. I still need a lot of experience.

looks nice! Limited-Liberty, how did you like ex-p results? i'll be trying it this weekend if the weather allows. i aslo have another question, i'll pm you though.

Cheapshot you have P.M.

Thanks guys. I am still learning and i think i did a good job on it too. It will just take sometime for me to get the hang of it. I think the EX-P gave it a nice touch after i was all done. Nice ans slick and smooth!!!!!!!! The only thing i can tell you is put it on thin. It is hard to do it but with the light mist of S&W here and there it helped to spread it out thinly. make sure you take it all off too because if not then the next day or few days after you will see spots that you missed. It was like that on my dads truck and read that other guys have been experencing that also.

Thanks doublel. I don’t know how the boarder appeared around the thumbnails. I think it creates it automatically. I was worried the pictures wouldn’t show up because it was the first time I posted pics.

limited-liberty: very nice work on a great color. Please post your thoughts after applying the 845.

I experienced the "how did I miss the EX-P spots" earlier this summer, just a minor inconvenience but I don't know how it happened.

The spots that reappeared days later (after a car wash) were right in the middle of the hood & on the upper 1/3 of the DS door ... areas that are tough to miss when taking the residue off.

Quick wipe with a dry MF & no more problems but tough to explain.
