detailed a Lesabre today

That's odd..

I detailed a 2002 Buick LeSabre this past Tuesday.

It was for a friend of my wife. I charged her 60, but she gave me 75. The car was spotless on the inside, but the outside was the usual thick brake dust, and mild tar on the paint. Nothing simple green HD, DG All wheel cleaner and a pressure washer couldn't deal with. It took about 4 hours to to a mini detail.

I could've charged her more, but she helped out some of my family members when they lost their house to a fire. So I didn't mind. Plus she's big in the community and she'll refer me some people.

It would be great if in my area you could ask and receive 250 plus for a detail but you wouldn't make a living asking these prices. Not enough people would pay it to stay in business.

Most "full" details in my area are from 125-maybe 200 max. Of course this is without paint correction and such. If you detailers out there can command the big bucks more power to ya. :goodjob

About Folex, I bought a gallon at Lowes. It was under 16.00.

$150-200 or so for a detail that has only 1 polishing step sounds about right. $250+ and you are probably doing at least 2 polishing steps and some decent correction. Full on correction is another story...

You charge 200 for a detail without a paint correction? :hm

No, I'm not a detailer. I was just throwing out what some detailers in my area charge for details.

Full detail inside and out with a sealant wax is 125 for most cars. Large SUV/vans are 175-200. For minor paint inperfections (swirls, fine scratches) it's 50-75.00 more. Full Paint corrections, I imagine would be much higher from an experienced detailer.

The $250 plus comment. I was thinking some on here command this with just a wash and very basic detail. Reading Scottwax reply this likely isn't the case.

Good gracious! I won't do a car for less than $20/hr. Decent interior work takes at least 2-3 hours. Wheels and wash is 2 hours, clay adds an hour, maybe 45 minutes. Taping is an hour or more, 2hrs per step.

I just can't see it taking less than 8 hours to detail the average size car. So 8-12 hours at my cheap hobbyist rate is $160-$240. No engine in that. I don't consider the rate exorbitant, just fair.

List of services for their full detail.

Showroom high gloss Hand wash. All crevices cleaned. Ashtrays, console, cup holders, brake pedals, vents, Interior shampoo, seats, mats and carpets. Door jambs cleaned. (Trunk vacuumed upon request.) Windows cleaned. Chrome polished. Wheels and wheel wells cleaned. Gas cap area cleaned. Carnauba hand sealant wax. Leather seats cleaned and conditioned. Inside consoles cleaned, scuffmarks removed from panels. 1 to 3 hrs. job time on most vehicles.

Most Cars $125

Most Mid-Size SUV's / Trucks $150

Most Large SUV's / Vans $175-$200

These prices are without using a buffer,(50-75 extra for buffer) and without Excessive buildup fees like pet hair, tar, tree sap, & excessive dirt inside & out.. . I imagine this company has at least two guys on one vehicle at all times for this time allotment.

I don't know much about this detail place other than it's been voted #1 in the metro area for 6 straight years.. Again I'm just going by info on their prices and times on their website.
