Detailed: 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee

On my recient roadtrip to Colorado. I got my Escape up to 110. That's as fast as she'll go. Even though the speedo goes to 120.

<strong class='bbc'>sorry dood....you got lucky...i dont know about IL...but here if you go 30+ over thats an automatic court apperance....i couldnt make too much else out....except 8 sumthin in the morn....did youm tell them your an Autopian...amybe the guy would let u detail his ride and scrap the tix....:) [/b]</blockquote>
In IL, it depends on the County you are in. Since I got nailed for 27 over (92 in a 65) and it had been several years since I got ticketed for any sort of moving violation, I only had to attend the 4 hr course in McHenry County (I had to leave home at 6:00 that Saturday in order to make it). As far as I can remember, McHenry, DuPage, Will, and Cook offer the courses.

Got another speeding ticket this past weekend. I just can't seem to go over a year without getting one. Thank God for Defensive Driving courses to eliminate these incidents from our driving record. Laters

Bha, I got a reckless driving ticket this weekend. I don't expect a conviction out of it, because it was just a mistake by the state patroler..but it sucks to have to deal with it.

No, he thought I was racing this old 80s honda next to me, but I was just speeding slightly. And the honda dropped back for a second then pounded the throttle and did what is known as the "honda fly-by". He was going much faster than me, and the light ahead of us turned yellow. I stopped, and he tried to stop, and ended up locking his brakes, sliding through the intersection. the cop pulled us both other and wrote us up.

puter....i got a tik over here for about 27 over the limit.....it was just a speeding tiket with a huge ass fine...like $300...and points...but not reckless....30+over the limit here...is reckless and...thats an automatic court appearance+the $.............

In IN, 16 over is reckless. In IN, IL & WI, Reckless nets you some chrome bracelets.

yeah, he was going to arrest me and the guy in the honda, and have our cars impounded (YIKES! who knows what would've happened to my car!). But he had a DUI in the back of his car already that he was taking down to the station for a breathalyzer. So he released us both.

I got a ticket last weekend...90 in a 70. There were 10 troopers all bunched together just waiting with radar. I usually give these to a ticket attorney who gets em dismissed or I pay a small fine along with his fee and no points, but this was in another county and I can't find an attorney who does tickets there. Thats a real kick in the ass...can't find an attorney????

Picked up an Escort 8500 2 days later and I don't think a radar trap like that will catch me again! I know that there are other ways of getting nailed, like airplanes, laser, instant on stuff, but I feel at least "reasonably" protected now.

Attorneys to dismiss tickets? Aren't attorneys expensive? My ticket for doing 85 on a 70 was $95. Now how much do you all think an attorney would charge to dismiss it?

One more thing. What are you all referring to when you mention points. We don't have anything like that where I live. Laters

points are an "add-on" to the $ fine...depending on what the offnce is...passing someone on the right side(on the street) to get ahead of them...thats 3 points....speeding is usually 1-3 points depending on hpw fast your going....going thru a red light is 3 points....once you get over 15 in 18 mths.....your license gets suspended(after the 18 mths the offence is taken off and they subtract the points from your total)...you can attend a "safe driver" class for a few hrs and get 3 points taken off your total(but you can only attend once every 18 mths)....:)

Don,

Some drivers may face an insurance surcharge if the ticket shows up on their record. Sure, the $100 fine may not hurt much, but insurance could easily increase by that amount or more for every six months of coverage, and ins. companies typically keep the surcharge in place for 3-5 years. An extra $200/yr for five years adds up, and may make the lawyer worthwhile . . . it's a cost-benefit issue, for sure, though. For some, it would be much cheaper to pay the fine, take driving school, etc. and be done with it. For others, it might be worth it from a dollars and cents perspective to fight the ticket.

Just a thought,

Tort

Ticket lawyers generally charge about $79 here in Florida. Either your case gets dismissed with no points and no fine, or they plead no contest and you get a reduced fine and no points. Otherwise you can choose to go to traffic school for 3 hours and you still have to pay the fine, but get no points. You can only choose school once in 12 months and 5 times in your lifetime.

I once pulled off 80 mph on SR63 when I detailed my friends Olds Intrigue :D I was driving it back ot his house and there was a straight stretch there so I edged up until I hit 80 and felt like I was flyin, so I backed off, and cops hit that road REALLY heavy. Matter of fact, driving back home there was a cop setting in the exact spot where I started to take off writing somebody up  That car has a chip in it with the 3.5 twin cam V6, pegs at 140, its SWEET!

Thanks for the info. In Texas, you can have one moving violation from going on your driving record so long as you attend a Defensive Driving Course. It is 6 hours and you can only do this one time a year. Pretty good deal. For example my $95 dollar fee will be reduced to $65 and then the Defensive Driving Course will run me $25-$35. It's pretty much the same price so it really benefits us to attend these things. Laters

What do you think the fine/penalty would be for 170 in a 70? Got it up to 170 today on a nice open and smooth stretch of freeway. Past 155 mph I became accutely aware of the wind noise and buffeting. The car was nice and stable with light hands on the wheel. Aside from being in an airplane that's the fastest I've ever gone.
