Detailed: 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee

135 in my Maxima. It was still climbing, but I was on the freeway along with several semi trucks and the thought of a semi drifting into my lane forced me to slow down.

Never had the balls to climb to that speed again.

Most of the time I just go 5 over in the city, 10-15 over on cty highways/freeways.

Maxima SE 5spd w/ CAI, FSTB, straight-through muffler, Potenza RE950 tires (W rated I think).

Darn near broke my highest speed ever driving a 545i. If I had enough open road, I would have cleared 150+ easily. But I managed to squeak 144 mph (according to the HUD).

aint this top speed?

Depends a friend of mine set a top speed record on his N/A hayabusa of 215.642 MPH set in Maxton, NC in October 2004

No turbo, No nitros, no supercharger

from a dead stop in 9/10's of a mile

Had my tundra up to 109(fastest it would go) coming home from welding class with a redneck in the front seat goin "brandon, Brandon, BRANDON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY S#*T"

Dont go that fast anymore tho b/c I could not stand the thought of brake dust on the rims slowing down from 100+

I will never admit speeding ;).. but I can tell you one thing.. I don't anymore(at least nothing 10+ the speed limit).. I have a little baby girl now. Too many marbles on the table... Remember, you can be the best driver in the world.. All it takes is one STUPID driver (and we all know they're a dime a dozen) to change into your lane to really f up your life and family.

Peace and be safe.

theres always some piece of tire or road debris thrown around and all u need is one thing to f u up.

as for my speed ive hit 125 and slowed down. it was on a long stretch of road where i could see anything for a mile ahead and no traffic. (that was in homestead florida on a detour on my way to the florida keys, just incase someone was wondering).

as for regular driving. i tend to drive 5-10 mph over the speed limits. i like my car too much to put it thru that risk. plus. if u dont really speed, the other driver wont ever know if he is indeed faster than u.

I dont see what the problem is. YOu sit behind the wheel for 8 or 10 hours a day and see how people who can;t drive go zooming by at 100 mph, and youd want them all off the street to.

If you wanna drive fast, go to a racetrack and leave all us others in peace instead if in pieces. What all of these people are bragging about is dangerous, illegal and stupid.

If you wanna kill yourself, be my guest, but don;t take me, that little old lady or family in the minivan with you.

You don't agree?

Whether or not I agree isn't the point. The point is that the way in which you expressed your ideas/thoughts was a bit on the harsh/offensive side, not to mention that I know/knew a heated debate would follow. So, all I am asking/hinting at here, is that you might want to think before you post as to how you're comming across to people.

I know that we all are guilty of being a bit hard on others from time to time (I sure know I'm guilty) but that doesn't excuse it. Remember that this is the internet, and it is sometimes difficult to express exactly what the tone of expression for a statement may be. Be mindful of that, and try to stay tactful. Leave the soapbox in the laundry room where it belongs!

You're relatively new here, so I'm assuming you just aren't as familiar with messageboard ettiquite quite yet, but please do use restraint in the future; because like I said while we're all guilty from time to time, it should never be the general trend.

:welcome

I won't preach, but there are really some pretty intelligent points brought up in this thread. I own (and have owned) many VERY fast cars. And I've certainly fell into the temptation of wanting to "see what they can do". It's the testosterone thing I guess. :p But I defend that by saying I did so in a way where I was not in a situation of even remotely harming anyone else.

BUT...several years ago I started taking hi-performance drivers education classes sponsored by my local car clubs (BMW, Porsche, etc). This is where you drive your car with an instructor on a real race course. My car handling skills both on the track and on the street have improved ten-fold. I now instruct at these DE (drivers education) events all over the country and they are an absolute blast! A total adrenaline rush!

I no longer have the need to "see what my car can do" on the street. I know what it can do. And driving fast down the highway is, frankly, BORING. I get my "fix" now at the track. And I am a better, safer and probably a more critical driver on the street.

You ought to check out a local driving school...any car is welcome, no matter what club is sponsoring it. Our latest Porsche club event had students with every car imaginable.

:bigups

My top speed: 160mph and still had more, but not enough room. (In my Trans Am.)

Average speed on a highway: 80mph in a 65

Gotta love speed! lol

137 in a 65 in a 99 kia sephia (surprising huh?!) believe it or not, went to jail for it too! :wall (FL.)

oh yea and 142 in a 95 RX-7

Man, that sucks! I was close to that before, was racing a SRT4, then saw lights, so I thought if I pull over first, he wont go after me right, wrong, that bast****! Probably because I had 3 people in my car and I was 16. At least he didn't tow my car and take me in, due to a emergency call. Got out of the ticket too, just have to spend a couple of bucks on a lawer. lol
