Collinite's 476S Super Doublecoat Auto Wax Review

Well, I would hope it was still going strong after 1 week. Anything should be going strong after one week.

Adding 476s on top pf Poli-Seal makes it 100x easier to wrok with. Just FYI.

Bump? Maybe? haha

I see this is an old thread, but has been bumped a few times over the years.

We were given a can of 18 oz can of Super DoubleCoat Auto Wax #476. I assume machine application would be the best choice judging by past posts. Any more thoughts on durability? We are probably storing one of our car this winter in a garage, would this 476 work out fine, or is the insulator the only way to go?

I still really like the look 476 gives. To me, it gives the best of both worlds of sealant/wax in the looks department.

For durability, the stuff just can't be beat. 1000P comes close, but requires three coats to approach the durability you'll get from one coat of 476S.

It can be difficult to remove the 476 residue if you get it on too thick and leave it on too long before removal, so be careful. I do find it easier to apply it by PC than by hand.

My fav is to put a layer of IW over the top of it. 476 is great by itself, but IW on top makes it better suited to come clean using touch free car washes. 476 by itself should be capable of getting you through the winter, though.

Whereas I like doing a base of 845 and *then* applying the 476S. NO, it doesn't compromise the durability any. You could always still top the 476S with 845, making for a 845/476S/845 sandwich.

How are 845 and 476S different? I know one is the double coat and one the insulator, but how does layering them help? Does the 845 seal in the 476S? Just curious why the combination of 845 and 476S is popular, I had never heard of Collinite before we received the free can.

Thanks again.

You're reading my mind. :) I was going to ask you exactly that.

Putting the IW on first makes the 476 so much easier to apply/remove.

As I stated in another thread, I was just over a month with 476 and a $2 coin-op wash, with 2 coats spaced out over a couple weeks. My car rinsed clean except the last time it could use some aggravation.

It has been parked for a few weeks now, as I bought a different vehicle for the winter, so I will wash the car once more before winter and maybe another coat of 476. It will sit outside all winter and this spring will tell how well it stood up.

And also makes for less build-up along pinstripes/etc. and fewer staining issues on textured black plastics.

I'm married, so I get all of that I need. ;)

You've been taking spy pictures of the Sequoia, haven't you?? :o I've spent four days now working on it, one day of which was spent removing old 476 from various orifices/nooks/crannies/emblems, etc. Thank heaven for Hi-Temp Prep Wash. I *still* can't believe I was *that* sloppy when I last applied the stuff.

Funny how it can do that sometimes, huh? Give the 845 base a try, it makes for a much broader margin for error. I turned ebpcivicsi on to this after he did my Yukon; it's a lifesaver on vehicles with miles of PPF edges.
