Collinite Fleet Wax vs. Powerlock

Guitarist302008- I can't say how old my FK1000P is, but "a few years" easy.  That tin will last me for a long, long time!  I had a quite old sample tin of the stuff that was dried out and otherwise appeared "too old to be any good", but other than being a PIA to work with due to being so hard, it actually worked just fine (sure surprised me). 


 


I have a *LOT* of LSPs that are many years old (over a decade for my KSG, at least six-eight years for my UPP, and my M16 and 476S date from pre-VOC days) and they all work fine.  My little jar of Zymol wax made for interior wood ("Detail" or somesuch name) dates from the mid-1980s and is fine despite a crack in its lid that I thought would mean instant death.  My LSPs just don't go bad even though I take no special pains with regard to storage, though my shop is always above-freezing.

How does Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 perform compared to PL??  Have read a couple of good reports that it looks great and is very durable.
 
Update on the fleetwax. My Wife's car sits outside and even with the snow and salt we've had, it seemed to have shed the dirt and such very well and the car is still pretty clean. The beading looks tight and good. It's a good durable wax so far... we'll see in a few weeks-months.
 
We'll, I got the urge to try Power Lock. I am so glad i did! I was a big fan of BFWD but it's been replaced. PL was $10 cheaper and it went on easier, wiped off better, the slickness and the look is amazing.


Side note, I switched to Buff & Shine red pads to apply LSP's with, I was using LC red and gold. No more LC pads for me. If you haven't tried Buff &Shine yet, I suggest you do!

Problem with that theory is, it doesn't hide them with PL.

My understanding is that you can layer PL if you wait three hours between applications.

and yes, the buff N shine pads are slightly better IMO.  Im phasing out the LC pads (except for the hydro tangerine) and switching over to buff N shine

Yep--B&S, Uber and HD pads are all the same.


 


I've also found the B&S red pad to be excellent for applying LSPs--very soft, no cut and the cell structure is so tight that they don't soak up much product.
 
The only complaint I had with Powerlock and the black Uber/B&S pads was when I first started using PL 3 years ago. It was totally my fault, but I used so much product that I was literally squeezing it out of the pad when I was cleaning it. Stupid mistake, but that taught me how little I needed to use and I've still got half a 16oz bottle after maybe 12 applications.
 
dfoxengr- I bet most people use way too much LSP (most any LSP) just like that.  IMO if somebody uses an ounce of LSP to do something Suburban-size, they used way too much.
 
I always go with the too much vs too little amount and if a product works, then it gets the Junebug seal of approval. Power lock has earned that honor!

I intend to use up the last of my BFWD and switch to PL for my go to LSP.

that 16 oz of powerlock should yield about 50 cars waxed...I use about 1/4th of an ounce per car...one product to pad application X, then one circle, then 4 drops in the quarters of the pad. do all the horizontals first, then half the sides, then the other half
