Collinite 845IW

Another shot of 845:

I've read several references to Carnauba wax in 845 but there is no mention of it on the bottle that I have, or in the product description on their web site. Does anyone know for sure if there really is Carnauba wax in it? It seems unlikely to me that a compamy wouldn't mention it if it were in there.

Did my own car today with 845IW.

Did not need any prep other than washing it really well. No swirls from last summer's detail, just some surface swirls on the old wax barrier.

Old Barrier: 2x NXT topped with Meg's #16

1. Pressure washed

2. Wash with Meg's NXT Wash 2x

3. Dried with Waffle Weave MF

4. Collinite 845IW applied with PC 5 setting on grey finishing pad

Pics taken at dusk so they don't look as good as it should, tried to shut down the flash to eliminate reflection.

I have their color pamphlet and it doesn't mention it either, but from what I can see it does contain real wax as it is unlike any liquid wax I have used and the use of paint like thinner solvent is similar to shoe polish.

I personally think the MF applicators are difficult to use and waste product. 845 contains carnauba but I'm not sure how much- Collinite customer service might tell you.

I was on the phone today with Collinite Customer Service. I was discussing the VOC changes and trying to determine if I have some of the new stuff. Yes there is carnauba wax in Insulator Wax. According to the Collinite Customer rep they changed the solvent in IW. They were concerned that they would have problems when the change took place but they said it worked out great and there is no negative impact. They said you might notice a longer drying time with the new stuff. Other than that nothing has changed. Thats what I would expect them to say though. I will test both versions side by side.

If you want to know if you have the new stuff there is a way to tell. It's a minor change in the packaging. On the new bottles it says, Collinites No. 845 Heavy Duty Paste Insulator Wax. The older stuff does not say paste.

Good to know, guess I have the new stuff since it says "Heavy Duty Paste" on it.

Does the old and new stuff smell any differently ? if it does, then they changed to a different solvent base. The new stuff smells like mineral spirit paint thinner

Good for me , too , since I was stocking up in preparation for the VOC. Turns out I DO have the old stuff and a retailer w/ more in stock.

Nice to know in case the new stuff ends up suckin' hind tittie , I'll have darn near a lifetime supply of the good stuff.

Wow, I noticed that after a day after applying 845IW the paint is more slick than after intial application. Does anyone know it Carnuaba wax cures or hardens overnight ?

From Collinite's response to the question:

The #845 & #476s contain the #1 grade yellow carnauba wax.

I need photos of cars topped with Collinite product for my soon to be new website www.toughwax.com. I would also like the owners to give their testimony about the product they used.

MadiX, can I use your photo of your Mitsu ?
