Collinite 845IW

Well all just thought i would chime in and give my 2 cents on Iw845 i found this wax about 3 months ago and have put it on 4 cars so far since . One car is driven on the highway 95 percent of the time all hours of the day the other 3 are basically back and forth to work cars and washed weekly and qd also. The highway car might get washed every 3 weeks at the most but still looks great i am a collinite Iw845 user for life now if it can keep that car clean it can keep any car clean.

from what I read at detail city it seems as if 845-as of June- is the new VOC compliant formula. Old stock still might be on the shelf tho.

I had a quick go with the 845 on a red car, previously treated with the Klasse twins.

Went on and off very easy with no dust. Was a little thick at first but a good shake of the bottle will thin it out (it is hot as well at the moment so that may have helped).

I was surprised with the results, seemed to give a very sharp type of reflection and looked very impressive on red. Not had chance to do the whole car yet or to test durability.

Couldn't test the water beading either as the owner refused to let me put water on the "gorgeous" finish!!

More testing needed at the weekend I think.

After three weeks, my IW felt VERY slick still. Granted, the car has only been driven 6-7 times, but I am very impressed with it.

Just spoke w/ a Collinite CS Rep.

Said the reformulation took effect the 1st of the year. So whatever you're getting now is the new stuff.

He also said the only difference w/ 845 is that they lowered the solvent content to meet VOC Regs.

No changes in package appearance except for an in-house keyed factory stamp somewhere on or in the bottle so THEY know old from new.

Claims no discernable difference in performance (shine , durability , etc...) and no discouraging comments from customers.

If this is true and the only difference is the solvent content than the new version of IW should be even better to layer than the old. I would consider this an improvement. But I will have to test the two versions for myself.

My curiousity comes into play with the mention of 'solvents'.

Wouldn't solvents imply some sort of cleaning ability and therefor inhibit layering ?

'Solvent' , though , is a pretty broad term.

I dunno ; whadda'y'all think ?

Thats what I was getting at. Less solvent less cleaning ability and more likely to layer. This would be a good thing for IW assuming everything else stayed the same. It could also mean harder to work with.

I got my bottle just recently from Pakshak who only just started selling Collinite, so I assume I have the reformulated stuff. I did not find it hard to work with at all. Just a touch more difficult than P21S to buff off the residue, which is hardly difficult at all. On some areas, I applied quick a thick layer and it still buffed off easily with an extra swipe.

I just ordered a case from Collinite and waiting for delivery, they say it is still the VOC based formula when I asked.

Anyone need some ? for Canadians only ...LoL

Good to hear. My IW is definitely the old stuff and it's very easy to work with as well. Sounds like reformulation hasn't changed IW negatively.

I will be trying some 845IW on my boat and waverunners. I have always used Klasse in the past for its durability. Do you think Collinite is more or less durable than Klasse???

solvents may clean but not all solvents are specified as cleaners-Collinite always claim that 845 could be layered

That's the point I was trying to make.

My obviously false assumption was that solvents were synonymous w/ cleaners as used here, and that to layer a product it had to be solvent free.

However , Webster defines 'solvent' as "that which dissolves or can dissolve" ; that would include water.

So , 'solvent' is still a broad term , but for my edification on this issue it doesn't neccessarily mean 'cleaner'.

Clear as mud , now.

Thanks , guys.
