CMA Talk 2011

Why all the hate on Taylor? I have a 17 year old daughter that got me listening to her and watching a few videos. She seems very real and not made by some corporate star maker, like all new artists there's a bunch that just have to hate - remember Shania Twain and all the Nashville snobs... Taylor has made more money at 21 years old than most country singers make in 2 lifetimes, so get over it. BTW- I went to a Taylor Swift concert this summer, she put on a great show, not as good as the Brad Paisley show, but close. Oh, and I like Brad Paisley, Trace Adkins, Toby Keith, Hank Williams Jr too

I grew up forced to watch Porta Wagner, the Grand Old Opry, the Wilburn Bros' HeeHaw etc, so don't go on about how good the old country music stars were, they for the most part suck, their music show be played by the CIA to make the <DELETE> talk.

Im only 30, but I know what your getting at. My father was a huge bluegrass fan, and wanted nothing to do with anything other than olllllld country and bluegrass. When I was 8, we made the drive to Nashville for what I thought was going to be a surprise trip to Opryland, just to find out it was for the Opry itself. Grand Ole Opry in 1989 = the most boring night of my life. To my Dad, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings was as hip as it got :)

You are kidding of course, because yes she is corporate fueled. Her label is aptly named BigMachine and ironically another group from that label The Band Perry wound up winning a couple of awards which could have/should have gone elsewhere. Her lyrics are immature, which was OK when she was a teenager and wrote "Tim McGraw", but it tiresome now and is better suited for something like a Disney radio station for the demographic which can appreciate that drivel.
