Clearkote Info

Just an FYI. I sent Clearkote an email asking what products would I need to maintain a black car that was in very good overall condition. They answered my email within hours on a Sunday. That in itself is impressive. Below is their response. Any users here that would agree/disagree with what they are saying?

Mike:

Thank you for asking about our ClearKote Products.

Mike the best Actual Wet Look can be achieved by using three different products.

1. Wash car. Don't worry about drying off.

2. Use "Red Moose Machine Glaze". This will remove all of your paint issues and all of the surface damage. This is designed for dark and silver colors. You might need to go over the surface more then one time, depending on the surface damage.

Generally speaking, one pass will take care of it. RMG contains no wax.

3. Use "Yellow Moose Cream Wax". This will do nothing but improve the clarity of the surface and improve the depth and reflective gloss. YMW contains no abrasives, but contains a wax. That is in case you want to finish the process at a later date, you will have surface protection.

4. Use "Carnauba Moose Wax" to seal the surface and give the finish a genuine wet look. While you remove the excess Carnauba Moose Wax, it will take about 12 hours for it to fully cure on the surface.

5. The next day, wipe it down and maintain the gloss with our "Quik Shine". This is a Quick Detailer that is water based and it can be used on every thing on the outside of the car. (Except tires, won't hurt them, just not designed for them.) Then use QS on everything inside the car, (except cloth and carpets), QS can even be used on any after market tinted windows. You will be one happy camper !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not hard to use any of our products. All are Very User Friendly. When using any of our products you will go thru a small learning curve.

Just remember, less is better. Once this procedure is completed, it will look like you dipped you car in a bucket of paint and set it on the drive way to dry. The surface will look like you are looking into a pool of dark clear oil.

Q.S. is water based. All of our other products, are 100% petroleum based. This puts oils back into the paint that evaporate over time. This makes the paint, rubber and any plastic live longer. All of those items are petroleum based. Like products on like products.

I hope this has answered your questions and I look forward to doing business with you. Should you choose to purchase our products, you will not be disappointed.

Yes that sounds about right. That's the same recommendation I received from them over a year ago and it was the best my Midnight Blue Metallic GTO ever looked. The Clearkote products are topnotch, but they smell like fish bait :(

sound good but I don't agree with one thing:

I would not use RMG to " remove " defects it only has a tiny bit of cut

I would use RMG to "hide" defects and VM to "remove" defects

or get the best of both worlds and use scottwax's pink moose(mix 50%VM +50%RMG)

but then again his info is correct based on the fact that you told him your paint is in

"very good overall condition"

I have a black corvette that I originally used Zaino on. The car looked great but close up you could still see cobwebbing in direct sun that I could not get rid of. I called Everett at Clearkote and told him what I just told you. He suggested exactly the same recipe so I bought all three products. Here's what I found. The RMG made the paint darker and helped hide the cobwebbing nicely. In fact, I kinda liked the look of the car after the RMG and wished I could have left it that way but it would have no protection. Then I used the Yellow Moose Wax and I feel that kinda muted the RMG look. Then I topped with Carnuaba Moose Wax. The products did exactly what I wanted which was to hide the direct sun cobwebbing. The finish is also very easy to maintain now and doesn't collect alot of dust. The only thing I might want to try next time is covering the RMG with Souveran. However, with my luck that will look great but may attract dust. The bottom line is this: most of the products we talk about here are phenominal. Clearkote is one more example of this. Whether it's Zaino, Clearkote, Menzerna or whoever. The products discussed here are top notch and will yield excellent results. Moreover, play with products and interchange brands.

I just ran out of Quik Shine so I tried some Z-8 over Clearkote. It worked fantastic.

whats up ptaylor! i would deff agree with ptaylor there. he just recently recomended me to clearkote and i have ablack Trans Am and i was experincing the same thing as he first said about his corvette. I only bought the RMG and i went over it wiht my portercable and my rotary in a few places to see if it would look any better. After doing that i just stuck with my pc and took my time using the RMG and my car never looked better and i agree with ptaylor when i waxed it it did kinda muted the rmg look but i can live with it cus it still looks better than it ever did. i would deffinaltly reccomend Clearkote though i thank ptaylor for bringing it to my attention. Good luck and have a good one!

White Lexus: When you polish your T/A with the Menzerna SIP you ordered, your RMG is going to look even better than it does right now. My 2005 vette looks like it just drove off the showroom floor and I have SIP and RMG to thank for that. There is no more cobwebbing even in full sun. I did a test today with my Clearkote products on my hood. On one side I applied RMG-Yellow Moose-Carnauba Moose. On the other side I left out the middle step of Yellow Moose. I know it's alittle premature right now but at first glance I'm liking the side WITHOUT the Yellow Moose. Moreover, it was faster to complete because I skipped an entire step. There was no noticeable difference in cobweb effect on either side.

I am also a big Zaino fan so I tried something else. I applied Clear Seal and Z-8 over the Clearkote on my trunk lid. It was a little finicky at first but it seems that I've got the hiding abilities of RMG, coupled with the ultra slickness or Zaino. So far it seems like the best of both worlds.

I've been finishing with Pink Moose (50/50 blend of VM and RMG) and topping with Carnauba Moose. Almost always my go to on solid black paint now.

I received the same advice from Everett and I gave it a try. I really like the results I get everytime I go with the products and steps he recomends. This summer I really fell in love with the Red Moose, Yellow Moose, and Carnuba Moose combination. Paint takes on a deep, wet look. Everett always talks about "Reflective Gloss". After using those 3 products I knew exactly what he was talking about. :)

I need to try this combo on my torch red cobra. I have used the RMG, so I may get the other two parts of this combo and give it a whirl

Everett makes the stuff...I would think he would know. He seems like a no-BS guy. Have you tried it with a PC and a polishing pad?

For some reason nobody wants to believe Everett when he tells them to use RMG for paint correction. It is really to bad. The product is capable of doing more than most people think. :werd:

I've actually been mixing more RMG into my Pink Moose and it works out great.

Everett is a really good guy and sincerely wants anyone who uses his products to get the very best results.

Yes I use it all the time by PC

that's how I know what works for me

that also why I sayed what "I" would do

or did you miss that?

and did you also miss the last part of my post that states he is correct

and also if you don't like me telling you to use Pink Moose

listen to him because he sells a Pink Moose kit

After reading these posts I'm ready to buy. Any ideas on who has the best prices? I did a google search and came across some but I would prefer to buy from a reliable source as well.

Thanks,

Mike
