Clear coat failure

I see this term thrown around a lot, but do not really know what it means. Can someone educate me?

It's when your clearcoat wears down so much that it's no longer protecting the color coat.

Clearcoat failure is actually when the clearcoat seperates from the base . It shows up as peeling " lifting " or crackling like dry skin .

If it wear down that is either from polishing too much , or the sun has taken it's toll .

Almost all cars eventually lose their clear coat due to sun if not UV protected unless it's not driven daily

It all depends on the paint, weather, how it was cared for.
