Cleaning PVD Chrome Finish

I bought a new set of wheels for my truck. Before having them installed, I put two good coats of Collinite 845 on them. The wheels that I purchased are the Worx Beast and are a PVD coating with a clear coat over it. Before I purchased them, I did some research and the PVD chrome coating is actually some type of Powder Coating. In reading the instructions on how to clean them that came supplied in each wheel  box, it says to just use a mild car wash detergent. We all know that sometimes just a car wash detergent is not going to cut through brake dust. I currently use one of two products for cleaning wheels. I either use the Meguiars Wheel Brightener (for heavier, stubborn break dust) or Sonax ( for lighter, not so tough baked on brake dust.)

Anyway, since I had my new tires/wheels put on two weeks ago, I have been cleaning them twice a week with just Megiuars Shampoo Plus. My question is, not being very familiar with this new technology of PVD coating; if I let things go a little longer than normal, would the Megs or Sonax be ok to use on the PVD coating without causing damage to it, or causing separation from the clear coat and the PVD coating?

Here is what I bought:

Street5927- I've never resorted to Wheel Brightener, so I have no idea whether it'd be safe (I doubt I'd ever use it on *my* wheels, but that's just me).

Why not OptiCoat them?  Then you'll be fine with quick shampoo cleanups for a long, long time and you'll have fewer worries about dust/etc. getting built up in the nooks and  crannies.

To be honest with you Accum...I never thought about that! When I take them off for the winter, I will have to do that. Great idea...thanks!!!!

Glad to plant the seed!

I've never been a big fan of coatings (at least not for *my* vehicles), but !Oh Man! does the Opticoating work great on my wheels.  Some time I'll do all the wheels on all my vehicles with the stuff.

Hope yours don't get too dirty between now and winter...if there's any way you can do it while they're still fresh I'd sure give it a try (understand perfectly if that's not feasible though).

Usually brake dust doesn't become an issue unless time & humidity ( moisture) become involved. All I use is car wash soap.   Ihave bad brale dust on my TL and I have done 7 hour trips .. left it sit a week then 7 hours home and rain in the middle of it all and not an issue.  All that's on them is Klasse SG x 3 .

Jesstzn- Yeah, KSG can work very well if you layer it like that.  I was very happy with that approach for a *long* time.  I had to use more layers though, and also redo at least annually.

Eh, lots of approaches can be OK- I have some wheels coated, some just LSPed, and I haven't really done *anything* with the hubcaps on the newer Crown Vic, just clean 'em with GG Wheel Cleaner (it 's a way to use it up) and spritz on some QD.

I think to get me through the summer, I am going to opt for the CarPro Hydro2 Sealant for the wheels. Once the summer starts to come to an end and it is time to put the winter wheels back on, I will then OptiCoat them. The Hydro 2 has me intrigued, so I figure why not give it a try and see how it works.

Street5927- That oughta be one *very* user-friendly solution!  If you do that, I'd sure like to know how it works for you.  I can't help but be intrigued by that Hydro2 stuff too.

I placed my order last night. Hopefully it comes soon so I can try it out and give a review of my thoughts....hopefully it will curb your curiosity as well as mine!
