I bought a new set of wheels for my truck. Before having them installed, I put two good coats of Collinite 845 on them. The wheels that I purchased are the Worx Beast and are a PVD coating with a clear coat over it. Before I purchased them, I did some research and the PVD chrome coating is actually some type of Powder Coating. In reading the instructions on how to clean them that came supplied in each wheel box, it says to just use a mild car wash detergent. We all know that sometimes just a car wash detergent is not going to cut through brake dust. I currently use one of two products for cleaning wheels. I either use the Meguiars Wheel Brightener (for heavier, stubborn break dust) or Sonax ( for lighter, not so tough baked on brake dust.)
Anyway, since I had my new tires/wheels put on two weeks ago, I have been cleaning them twice a week with just Megiuars Shampoo Plus. My question is, not being very familiar with this new technology of PVD coating; if I let things go a little longer than normal, would the Megs or Sonax be ok to use on the PVD coating without causing damage to it, or causing separation from the clear coat and the PVD coating?
Here is what I bought:
