Cleaners...

I am looking for great cleaners. An all purpose cleaner, and a Carpet cleaner. I looked at meguiars extra, and the carpet cleaner spray. Anyone who has used other products or these let me know if you are absolutely convinced what you have is the safest, best cleaning, cleaner you have. For the APC, I need something safe for the hozes and metals. I will be using the APC cleaner in the engine and on exterior paint. So it has to be safe. For the carpet cleaner, just something gets rid of all stains amazingly and is color safe.

Oh almost forgot, a low foaming carpet cleaner since I am going to suck it up with an extractor.

Thanks

I haven't tried this yet, but I imagine you could use the household low-foaming type of carpet cleaners you can get at places like Home Depot or where ever they sell carpet cleaning chemicals. They also sell anti-foaming additives you can add to the recovery tank which allows you to use other (foamy) stuff.

Several pro-supplier companies like Pro, Auto Magic, etc. also sell low-foaming carpet cleaners. Try searching to see if anyone's used any of them.

I use a few Pro Cleaners.

For spots treating I use their Awesome Orange in the aerosol can for treating greasy and oily stains. For all other stains I spot treat with their Seat Belt Cleaner.

For normal cleaning I've been using their Heavy Duty Interior Cleaner. It work well. I put it through a spray bottle. Spray it on, quickly scrub and extract.

May not be high-tech or top of mind for most Autopians, but my BMW's Grey carpets and mats get cleaned exceptionally well with Carbona Carpet Wizard. It's a liquid that gets foamy with the frush, then settles really nicely and dries to a really nice, clean, fluffy, even finish.

My mom uses it on some of her antique hand woven rugs in her home, some as old as 200+ years, where it works wonders as well. The best about it is that it's an EVEN finished clean. No blothes, splotches, or bleach marks.

OK, I will let this one out since everyone has helped me so much. My brother owns a carpet cleaning company. He has access to the best chemicals availabe.

Now the secret... the best carpet cleaner for home/auto use is not a professional cleaner, but rather a store bought one. The brand name is "Folex" carpet cleaner!! It comes in a white and green bottle, and cleans carpets better than most commercial cleaners!!! It can be hard to get at times, but well worth it. My wife even uses it for stained clothes!!

Just don't tell my brother I told you... he will lose business!;)

Hey Nag..hehe,

Do you have the stock number or item number of the Meg's APC+?

I can only find APC here in Canada and not the "+". What is the difference?

Thanks

Could you please tell me what APC+ is and where you get it Thanks

It is a Meguiar's Pro line product. Most auto body supply stores will have it or can get it.

Part numbers:

D-1201 1-gal.

D-1205 5-gal.

D-1230 30-gal.

D-1255 55-gal.

Hey interesting, thanks! I've seen this around here at London Drugs... I don't think it's priced too high either.

I use Magnum Upholstry Shampoo that I get through my Meguiars distributer. Not only is it great on carpets and fabric, but it also does a real good job on vinyl. It runs around $8 a gallon and I mix it down about 10 to 1, so actual cost comes out to $8 for 10 gallons worth of cleaner.

I live 2 minutes from the border so I get mine from the U.S. of A.

Hey Brian,

London Drugs is probably the best price. Revy also carries it but at a MUCH higher price. It is really that good!! Just spray it on, leave it for 1/2 hour, come back, most of the stains with be gone. Then just dab the rest from the outside in, and presto! :up

the website makes it sound like some kind of miracle product and we know how these usually turn out. according to the website: spray on, dab up(dont scrub!), stains including blood and auto oil are removed instantly. they claim it is very gentle and safe but it sounds pretty darn harsh. anyway, i think they said it is available at home depot and i'm always up for something new. But like Scott said, i seriously doubt its going to be that much better than meguiars mag upholstery shampoo to compensate for the increase in price. i have no idea how much it costs but it is hard to beat $8 for 10 gallons of something that actually works. we'll see. if i get around to it, i'll post some results.

Hey Tim, If you go to an autobody supply store, you can get them to order some APC+ in for you. First you have to convince them that the product exists and that you are not making it up. After that they usually find a way to get it for you.

Yeah tell me about it! I ran into this obstacle once and just gave up because I don't really need it at the moment anyway. :p
