Cleaners...

Just worried if it might discolor the carpet? Sounds like an amazing product and strong chemicals?"folex" I might have to check it out at home depot and just look at it. The mag shampoo might be a good idea for carpets(maybe 303 ). It seems when talking about an APC meguiars APC+ seems to be the top choice. I will have to find that as I will use it to clean the engine, rocket panels, gas cap, etc, and use it on vinyl as well for cleaning before dressing the vinly dash etc. I just want to be able to use something SAFE! key word SAFE for any surface. Dash, engine, paint, and make sure it is strong enough to do the job as well. Anyone know about meguiars EXTRA? Can anyone compare APC+ to EXTRA? I will also be useing the APC as a spray in the interior on the carpets if the carpet does not have a stain. Just spray the APC and srub real quick and extract with the bissel. To make sure I have a clean carpet. Stains will be removed with the carpet cleaer and extractor. Lot's of good replies. I need a good APC. That is like my most important cleaner I need. Most of the time I will use the carpet cleaner and then over that the APC and then extract it up.

I guy at the Ferrari club turned me on to something pretty good.

General Cleaning - Woolite Fabric & Upholstery Cleaner..get a any grocery store. Cleans very very well and overspray won't hurt or stain leather/vinyl/plastic. I was really surprised on how well it cleans.

For stronger cleaning Eimann Fabrik.

BTW - I learned about the Bissell Little Green from the members

here...excellent! One of the best pieces of advice I ever got.

2HotFord, the difference between the Plus and non-Plus is this:

All Purpose Cleaner/Degreaser

All purpose butyl cleaner

  • Biodegradable
  • Free rinsing
  • Pleasant fragrance

All Purpose Cleaner Plus

Super concentrated non-butyl cleaner

  • Super wetting agents for enginer degreasing
  • Fabric softeners and brighteners
  • Biodegradable

Knight, as far as comparing APC+ to EXTRA, I feel like APC+ is safe on anything. But it doesn't say so in such a reassuring fashion as EXTRA. But then, they have different audiences. EXTRA is a fine product, but I wouldn't use it on upholstery, and I wouldn't use it to de-wax a car. If you only wanted one product, I'd say get the APC+. But maybe if you want to feel safer, keep a bottle of EXTRA around for those delicate things. I still have a full bottle of EXTRA, but I really never use it anymore. APC+ is just better. However, Meguiar's does claim one detailer cleaner is safe for everything:

Citri-Gel Multi Cleaner

Safe, easy-to-use citrus based cleaner

  • Non-caustic, non-butyl, non-solvent
  • Safe on aluminum, paint, rubber and plastic
  • Cleans engines, door jambs, fender wells and white walls
  • Use as a carpet pre-spotter
  • Excellent for vinyl or canvas convertible tops

Hey Stanger99,

I did not say that I had only heard about the product, but rather have first hand experience using it.

My brother's company has to use all kinds of chemicals to clean certain problems in carpets. He has a $70, 000 machine that does all the cleaning. Will Folex remove the need for a professional extractor when dealing with severe stains? No, of course not. BUT, it will do 90% of the time. Many times, my brother will use this produt and forgo the dangerous chemicals. Have you ever used chemicals to take out dog urine out of auto carpet? The solvent cleaner makes your eyes and throat burn just using it! The scary part is that the chemical is as clear as water; you have no idea how dangerous it is until you inhale by using it. I do not want chemicals like that in my cars!

If you are a skeptic, that is fine. Don't use it. My suggestion was meant to be helpful. I will not tell my friends on Autopia about a product unless I have personally tried it myself. I will post a picture later of ALL of my various products I use and have used.

Hmmm...on the surface, doesn't the promo about Zaino seem too good to be true? If no one tried it, none of us would be using it and loving it so much! :up

geez....sorry if you took offense to my post. i meant none.

Since, Aurora you have both the extra and APC+ ans seem to use the APC+ over the Extra every time then I will use it too. I am not going to use it on the leather seats or anything. I just want to use it for the following:

Wheels

Carpet along with the carpet cleaner

Paint-rocker panels, gas cap, door jambs, trunk jamb, front bumber if bugs

Dash and vinly cleaning on all plastics in the car except clear plastic. ( you know like dash, console, a pillar, etc. )

Engine!(needs to be amazing on this part)

headliner

Is the APC+ applicable to those areas? Just remember SAFE as well?

Thanks ahead of time

keep in mind that the APC+ also is more diverse in its ability to deal with different cleaning tasks, whereas EXTRA is in one dilution, which is already a pre-diluted form to fit most standard tasks (I think of it basically like Formula 409)

I have to say, I think a wheel cleaner, QD, and a bug/tar remover might be better for some of those areas. But APC+ would work on wheels. It's probably more gentle than those acid cleaners, but maybe not as gentle as say #36.

Also, what do you want to clean from the paint? I mean, car wash would be much better suited for that. APC+ would strip any protection off, and I'd be leary of rubbing it on the paint as it doesn't suds much. I would just use a QD or carwash for door jambs and the gas cap and such. I mean, no product is going to be perfect for painted exteriors and then also engines and carpets.

But APC+ would be great for the engine, vinyl/rubber, carpets, headliner, and could be used on wheels (not to mention wheelwells and underbody). Plus, it smells nice and doesn't seem too chemically or caustic.

Stanger99,

Folex retails between $8-$12 Can. So assuming exchange rate, around$5-$9 US. It is quite a bit more than buying a bulk cleaner, but to me it is worth it. You could use it for just the tough stains and then use a regular carpet shampoo for the rest.

General Motors actually has several good cleaners that are made for them under the GM label.

Been using that for about 8 years now for leather cleaning. Cadillac used to specifically recommend Woolite and water for leather cleaning (now just a mild soap and water), and Park Place Lexus/Mercedes suggests Woolite/water. I mix it down 6:1. Works on mild carpet/fabric stains and on vinyl as well.

Where can you get this Folex in Canada? I looked at the list and they don't have listings for Canada, only for the US. I am on the west coast, as you can see.

I have found Folex at both London Drugs and in Revy. The prices really vary though. London Drugs puts it on sale for around $8.99 otherwise it is $12.99 at both places. It is in a white with green writing pump bottle(see attached)

Homie it's prepping. You just spray it on those things I mentioned and let it work to loosen the particles. Then you use the wash mitt on top of that when you wash the entire car. It really works, try it. Yeah, I am only going to use that prepping part when I am going to polish. Not every wash. The wheel cleaners normally are targeted at just, break dust. An application of APC on the wheels on top of the wheel cleaner will go to work on the dirt and grime and oils. For the front bumper, you can use an APC and a sponge that has nylon netting and that "usually" takes care of "most" of the bugs and stuff that flies up on the front bumper. Oh an APC works great on door jambs and such, just spray it on and use a sponge and then pressure wash and it get's it clean. The APC I will not use specifically for carpet stains, just as said before putting the APC on top of such things really helps get grime and dirt. Can't wait to try that for all those things I mentioned. That is what an APC is for, economical, and powerful for certain jobs. You don't need "special" products for each thing I mentioned, too pricey, and you really don't need all them.

APC+ here I come.
