Clay Barring Damage Repair

I was trying to remove some paint overspray on the trunk using the Blue Clay Bar without much success. I then tried using the Red Clay Bar, as soon as I started using the Red Clay Bar I could feel some abrasiveness under the Clay Bar.

I stopped right away, cleaned up and now the over spray is removed but I have small surface scratches on my clear coat. :o

I used plenty of lube, went slowly but now I have made a small scratched area on my trunk.

The scratches run from front to rear on the trunk.

I want to try and remove the scratches and I am looking for some guidance on what I can do?

I don't have a PC so this will have to be repaired by hand.

I was going to try and use some DACP to see if that would remove the scratches.

Should I use the DACP by hand going in a Front to Back motion?

How do you know when the DACP is "Broken Down"?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes, try the DACP. Work it until there is almost no product left to wipe off. Use whatever motion gets results. If a couple applications of DACP do not work, next step is a fine cut or medium cut cleaner.

What bretfraz said :xyxthumbs . In fact, I'd suggest that you NOT use only front-back motions. Opinions vary on this, but I think you should try to be sorta "random" about it, doing at least some of your work perpendicular to the scratches. And the :nono circular method might be exactly what you need to get out the worst of it.

It's not like you did anything wrong, the red clay is just an aggressive product. Which is what you needed to remove the overspray.
