Chemical Guys: "ONE", pics and process.

if i recall correctly...the price jump is the fact that the 36 dollars was an introductory price......

ultra plush type towels work the best....waffle weaves dont have enough of a "knap" to capture dirt into the fibers....waffle weaves that tend to leave the grit on the surface.....

as far as the look...definitely glossy and shiny...as it is carnauba based there is some depth...but definitely not the look of a good paste....imo close....but i would say more along the lines of a spray wax like chracteristics than a paste wax....i will say that the look is still something i like....the kaolin clay in it definitely has some filling properties....my paint looks much smoother after a ONE application..

..the price of the blitz on the website reflects the 20% discount....they keep debating about raising the price back to the msrp on blitz but they find it to be a good value so they keep it at the lower price....

But ONE was barely added to their website not more than 2 weeks ago, so how are they already taking away a supposedly "introductory" price when Pete's 53 "30 day introductory" price has remained the same and nothing has been changed to remove that. Plus if something was an introductory price, why wouldn't they take advantage of that and advertise it to their customers. Unless you have insider info that none of us have, it seems like most of us were unaware that $36 was its introductory price only.

If I remember correctly ONE was not officially sold through Web site, at least not for a while. You could purchase it if you called or went there. Price increase seems to coincide with moving it into retail label.

As much as I love the convenience of ONE, I have to say that $46 for a gallon, coupled with the fact that I prefer to top it off with Blitz (for the finish the I want) makes the complete package very expensive per application. Yes, these two make a great "dynamic duo", but considering how much ONE it takes per application (about 3 ounces), coupled with the price makes it a very expensive "per use" application. Whether I reorder or not - well, I guess I'll have to wait and see how I feel when I get near the end of my gallon.

IMHO ONE is expensive per application only when looked at it in relative form (as in when compared to other products). However, when one looks at it in absolute form, realizing those 3 ounces are only a dollar and a dime, one can ask himself is it really expensive. I spend much more than $1.10 on a coffee in a single day. Starbucks is what I call very expensive, not ONE.

I for one don't care about price. I just want performance. If a product does what I want and expect it to do then that's all I can ask for regardless of price. Most cars cost between $35-$50,000 and some the guys cars here probably cost double that. So $46 compared to thousands:nixweiss I just don't get it.

I just finished doing the Goldwing (see earlier photos) with ONE, followed by Blitz. All I can say is "Holy Freakin Cow !!!" A topping of Blitz really makes this stuff explode with shine, shimmer, pop, wetness, you name it - Blitz did it. I didn't do the "dynamic duo" mixture of Blitz mixed with ONE such as what "orngez" suggested earlier, I simply did the traditional ONE apply/buff, then followed with a separate Blitz apply/buff. Very easy to apply and buff. Very good stuff. Teddy likes it...

Anyone use ONE successfully on a slightly warm surface? I couldn't get it to work well and it would just streak everywhere. I followed directions and let it haze. But it was very difficult to get the haze off.

I passed the third grade. On Blitz at 44.34 * .80 = $35.47 Geez that does not equal the $36.95 on their website. HUUUUUUUUUMMMMM........ I'll stay awake all night trying to figure how they got their price.

:rofl I would feel bad if you would be losing sleep over it so I'll help you out: That's because they share same way of defining what is 100% and what is 20% discount with accountants and sales departments in many companies out there. To you and me final price is 100% and discounted price is 80% of that. To those selling to us discounted price is 100% and final price is 120%. 36.95 * 1.20 = 44.34 :grinno:

When you use Blitz do you spray it on the car directly. I found when I do that I get little white dots on my exterior rubber trim. I then started spraying Blitz on a m\f applicator instead

So I assume that means you like it enough even at new price? ;)

Yep, the result makes it worth every penny. When you consider that it only took about 45 minutes total to do the filthy Wing AND the Bushtec trailer with ONE AND Blitz, I think I'm convinced. Just out of curiosity, I went back and did some "per use" calculations on the other products that I've used in the past, and on some others that I was considering, and the bottom line is, they're all within a quarter or half dollar per use across the board.

Convenience under certain scenarios is main reason why I like ONE. I can not make my car look good enough on the very short notice while I am in the parking structure if I carry say 8oz of ONR (or anything else) and few MF towels behind the seats (and in my MR-S that's about all space I have anyway). However, I can do it with ONE.

Also, try using ONE instead of window cleaner, you might like it, especially on car that is exposed to dust so much that on 3rd day driver and passenger windows are coated. If I spray with window cleaner "mud" will drip down and if anything gets on trim or door car will look bad. I have tried using ONE for windows and I do not have that problem anymore, dirt gets encapsulated and easily wiped off even if it got on trim and door. My windows have never looked more invisible, no streaking either. Plus that means I don't have to carry two bottles around anymore (one of window cleaner, one of QD) one of ONE (LOL) is enough. That makes me very happy.

Exactly my point.

This was my first Blitz use, but I sprayed it directly on the larger panels and spread it with a m/f. For the smaller panels (where I didn't want "dots"), I sprayed the m/f directly. Since it was already damp from the larger panels, it didn't take much additional spray. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Just tried it today. Have to say I am impressed but for the price I'll relegate it to days when I'm too lazy to wash and winter months.

Considering so many people have complained about ONE being too expensive to wash with (part of it might be psychological considering $46 per gallon has bigger sticker shock than $5.75 per 16oz even though they are same price per ounce) I am curious what would be total cost of car wash per wash with convential method once all gallons of water and ounces of shampoo are accounted for from the moment wash starts till moment car is dry?

Does someone please have that info?
