Chemical Guys: "ONE", pics and process.

I unintentionally sprayed it on the exterior plastic, and WOW it made it look fresh from factory. It left a nice sheen silky glow to it. It reminded me of JW satin gloss that I use for the interior.
 
I just got ONE today and all I can say is im mad!



After hearing all these great things about ONE I got it and it really was disapointing

Basicaly all it does is remove very little surface dust, does not work on real dirty spot, does notthing for bugs, and you need to use alot of it. Mabye im doing something wrong.

Then something, whether process or product you received, is definitely wrong as my experience has been positive and my car has been far from clean (I do not have bugs on it though).

I do agree that you have to use alot of it. I'm finding that in order to really do a great job on *all* of my car's exterior (trim, glass, wheels included) it takes me a good ten ounces to do it. So yeah, that's why I'm upset about the price of the stuff.



But, I have had good success with it's cleaning ability. Someone on the forum suggested using the stuff when it's very warm. My experience has been the exact opposite; using it when it's cooler outside, and on cool paint, allows you to let it sit longer before it starts to dry. The longer it sits while wet, the better it seems to clean. I've let it soak on bug stains for several minutes before. The bugs just came right off after that.



Whatever you do, don't press hard and scrub. You risk damage to your paint. Multiple applications and allowing it to soak as long as possible are much more effective/safe than scrubbing.



And I still stand by my expensive rant... I really hope they'll bring the price back down to where it was. It's just not cost effective at it's current level.
 
I dont know who told you to use it in the sun, but it DOES NOT work well in the sun. ONE is not cheap, but then again, which boutique products are? Until there is a cheaper alternative, I will stick with ONE. But in my eyes there IS NO product out there that comes close to ONE.



And according to Paul, even after the price hike, they continuously sell out of this stuff.
 
I feel there was misunderstanding. Nobody said ONE should be used in the sun. It was said that it works better when product is bit warm, and to leave product (as in bottle) a little bit under the sun to warm it up. Surface should be cold though.
 
Received a gallon of ONE on friday, and I am pleased with how the product works. There are two things that I am concerned about. First is that I seem to be using quite a bit of product probably too much but I want to make sure there is enough lubrication. Second while I did not notice any new swirls I am afraid that I am actually inducing swirls, and ONE is just hiding them only to be discovered later.

I must admit, I'm concerned about that, too. So far, I haven't found any though.

I use between 3 and 5 ounces per vehicle. It all depends on how dirty it is.

If used correctly, you need not worry. Light wiping, in one direction, with a plush m/f towel, always using a clean section of towel is the secret.
 
I have been seeing this ONE thread and it's time to put my .02$ worth in.



I was sent a 16oz bottle of ONE, and I have used it a couple of times. I actually just dont care for it. It works, it removes more dirt than a QD, it leaves everything clean and slick, but the learning curve is terrible on it and it takes for me alot longer than ONR.

Ive never thought about ONE covering up the swirls it creates. It would make sense, but I dont think there is ever a way to really find out?

Yes, there is. Make your car swirl free. Then let it get dirty. Then use ONE (correctly) to clean it. Then do IPO wipe down and look for swirls.

I'm certainly not meaning this to sound like a flame, but I simply don't see how this can happen.



With ONR, you get out two buckets, fill them with water, after each couple of swipes with your mitt, rinse the mitt, then dry the wet area.



With ONE, you spray an area, wipe with M/F, then buff.



To me, both processes should take about the same amount of time, except that when you're finished with ONE, you have a layer of Carnuba (which you don't get with ONR). I'm not pushing one method over the other, I'm just trying to understand how ONR's time is significantly different (either more or less) than ONE.
 
Well after using ONE a few times I have noticed some minor new swirls, and I have only used it on a slightly dusty or dirty car right after a rain. I feel that it would be very easy to miss a spot or two when wiping it off or not picking up all the dirt and then spreading that dirt all around when buffing with the clean towel.

Did CG rename "CG ONE" to "CG Go Green Waterless Wash"?

I searched for CG one on the Cg website but couldn't find it anywhere.



If is HAS been renamed or reformulated, is this new CG Go Green Waterless Wash" better in comparison to the original CG one?



All Thoughts and experiences are most welcome...
